Visit our HMH Engineering Blog - here What youll be doing: Write Back-End and Front-End highly maintainable code at scale for the content and metadata platform used by our HMH content creators, using modern web technologies (Web Components, Node.js, Typescript). Write Deployment Scripts (infrastructure as code). As a true full stack developer, if you are interested you will have opportunities to contribute not only front-end and back-end code, but also to the full application life including devops, cloud, monitoring, testing automation and more. What youll bring: 5+ years of experience and a bachelor's degree in computer science or related field is preferred Experience with Java Spring Framework as well as front-end (HTML/JS) but place the highest value on the ability to be productive in a wide range of environments, and learn to be productive quickly, even with unfamiliar tools Understanding of software development processes Ability to test, analyze data and improve constantly Experience with browser developers tools (Chrome or Firefox) Understanding of RESTful services (status codes, operation types, payload formats) Cloud familiarity (preference for AWS) Code reviews and version control (preference for Git) Experience writing and implementing unit tests Nice to have: Know multiple programming languages (JavaScript, Java) Experience developing with Alfresco version 5.x and above Physical Requirements: Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing) The person in this position needs to move about inside office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings

You are a right fit if: You are a good team leader You are a hands-on leader accountable for team's delivery as well as delivering by yourself You have hired good software engineers and built a good team You strive for continuous improvement You are a pro-active communicator, can represent team, can resolve conflicts You have delivered using Scrum/SAFe methodologies as a scrum master You have working knowledge of several software engineering practices You have working knowledge with testing strategies and tools You are advanced level software developer You have 5+ years' experience as engineering manager or team lead You have 12+ years of software development experience (Java or Python or similar) You can build full-stack/backend for applications and deploy on cloud You are aware of code smells and can enforce it You have followed TDD/BDD principles and created automated tests You are good in object oriented design, development You are good in choosing efficient data structures and algorithms You have working knowledge in design patterns/smells You can do system design for solutions in cloud (Can you build an MVP of Dropbox?) Even better if: You have operated products/services on cloud, in Azure or AWS You have experience with infrastructure as code tools, ideally with Terraform, Ansible, CMDB You have worked with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, Concourse CI You have experience with containers and Kubernetes, and designing highly resilient architectures for these.
