Under general supervision of the Pharmacy Manager and/or Supervisor, the Pharmacy Technician III position assists the pharmacist in the preparation of medications for patient use (oral and parenteral) according to established procedures. The role involves assisting in the distribution of medications, record keeping, and billing functions, maintaining inventory levels, performing assigned operational duties in a scheduled area, and assisting pharmacists in completing medication orders and related distribution duties in the assigned areas. Additionally, the Pharmacy Technician III may assist the pharmacist in performing best possible medication histories for patients. The selected candidate for this position will be hired at either the II or III level, depending on experience and qualifications. Minimum qualifications include being a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) issued by PTCB (Pharm Tech III), holding a Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy, and having two to five years of previous Pharmacy Tech experience. The ideal candidate should have proven knowledge of pharmacy terminology and calculations, strong computer experience and accurate data entry skills, excellent detail and organizational skills, demonstrated ability to manage workload within deadlines, excellent communication and customer service skills, and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly verbally and in writing to all levels of audiences. Preferred qualifications for this position include prior experience with IV sterile compounding preparation. Successful candidates must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs, and employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical. The hourly equivalent for this position ranges from $30.90 to $38.41.
