As an Operations Technician at Google Hardware Operations, you play a crucial role in managing the cutting-edge physical infrastructure supporting Google's search technology. Your responsibilities include installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware such as servers and components, as well as server software like Google's Linux cluster. Additionally, you will handle more complex tasks like configuring networks, routers, hubs, bridges, switches, and networking protocols. You may lead small project teams on larger installations and develop project contingency plans. A typical day for you involves manual movement and installation of racks, which may be physically demanding at times. However, you are excited to work with technology at the forefront of the industry. Your role as a Data Center Technician entails performing core data center operations and deployment tasks related to a specific function under direct guidance. This could include maintenance, machines, programs, networking, or media security. You will troubleshoot and identify problems following established protocols and documented activities, escalating non-standard challenges as needed. Over time, you will build knowledge of data security systems, operations, processes, and procedures while monitoring potential data security issues. The Data Center team you will be part of is responsible for designing and operating advanced electrical and HVAC systems. It is a dynamic, creative, and team-oriented group of engineers dedicated to constructing and maintaining robust data centers. In this role, your responsibilities will include contributing to efforts/projects in deploying, maintaining, and supporting current and new data center servers and network infrastructure. You will diagnose and repair faulty equipment, such as servers, networking devices, and storage equipment. Installing and managing switches, routers, and other large-scale networking equipment will also be part of your duties, where you may lead projects and sub-functional teams.,
