As a Negotiator, Global Contract Services at Barclays in Pune, India, you will play a crucial role in drafting, negotiating, and executing master and collateral agreements and ancillary documentation to support our global Markets client-facing franchise. Your responsibilities will include conducting diligence, negotiating directly with clients, and collaborating extensively with internal stakeholders such as credit risk, sales and trading, collateral management, treasury, tax, and client onboarding. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the largest team within Barclays Legal. To excel in this role, you should have a background in the financial industry with a focus on derivatives master agreements, possess strong negotiation and portfolio management skills, be familiar with collateral arrangements and credit support annexes, and have knowledge of industry netting and collateral opinions. It is essential to have a solid understanding of regulatory requirements and jurisdictional nuances, including Initial Margin requirements and Variation Margin requirements under various regulatory regimes. Additionally, you must demonstrate the ability to effectively manage risk and controls for the team by applying relevant risk frameworks and fostering a positive risk culture. Flexibility to work UK hours is required. Basic qualifications for this role include a tertiary/university or bachelor's degree (LLB or equivalent) and proficiency in legal analytical and drafting skills, communication, time management, and organizational skills. In this position, your main purpose will be to ensure that operations in the country or region comply with applicable laws and regulations while assisting the bank in managing legal and reputational risks associated with its activities. Your accountabilities will involve developing and implementing best practice legal strategies for risk management and compliance, providing legal advice and support to the bank's country coverage teams on various legal issues, representing the bank in legal proceedings related to its operations, creating and reviewing legal documents, conducting legal research and analysis, and delivering training programs to educate employees on legal and regulatory requirements. As an Assistant Vice President, you are expected to advise decision-making, contribute to policy development, and enhance operational effectiveness. If you have leadership responsibilities, you should demonstrate leadership behaviors such as listening, inspiring, aligning across the enterprise, and developing others. For individual contributors, leading collaborative assignments, guiding team members, identifying new directions for projects, consulting on complex issues, mitigating risks, and strengthening controls are key responsibilities.
