As a Shift Engineer at Air Products, you will be reporting to the Sr. Plant Manager and be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day shift operation of the 2 SMRs, ASU, Syngas, and integrated gas turbine plants at the Air Products Kochi Plant. Your primary goal will be to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the plants, leading the shift operating team towards the attainment of the company's high standards. The Kochi Plant, Air Products" first fully owned and operated facility in India, represents a significant investment and boasts state-of-the-art technology, making it the most advanced Hydrogen Plant within the corporation. The plant comprises 2 Large Technip Steam Methane Reformers (SMR), an 18 MW Kawasaki Gas Turbine, an Air Separation Unit (ASU), an Amine System for CO2 removal, and Cryogenic separation and purification of CO. Working closely with the Operations shift team, you will be responsible for the continuous operation of the HYCO plant in 8-hour shifts. Your duties will include troubleshooting plant process issues, supervising daily plant activities, and reporting to management. Additionally, you will identify maintenance concerns, coordinate with the maintenance team for corrective/preventive measures, and work towards achieving productivity targets. Your role will also involve ensuring compliance with Air Products" EH&S standards, issuing permits, facilitating handovers, implementing emergency plans, and maintaining proper communication with the customer and plant management. You will be required to generate daily production reports and ensure that plant emissions and effluents meet company requirements. To qualify for this role, you should hold a Bachelor's degree in engineering (typically Chemical) or a relevant field, have direct experience in operating large Steam Methane Reformers or similar technologies, and possess a minimum of 5 years" experience in gas, petrochemical, or related industries. Experience with DCS and good technical knowledge in gas operations and engineering are essential. Fluency in oral and written English is required, along with the ability to handle customer communication effectively.
