CNC Operator/Setter/Programmer

Job Title: CNC Operator / CNC Setter / CNC Programmer

Department: Production / Machine Shop
Reporting To: Shop Floor Manager / Production Engineer

Job Purpose

To operate, set, and program CNC machines efficiently to produce precision components as per engineering drawings, quality standards, and production schedules.

Key ResponsibilitiesCNC Machine Operation

• Operate CNC machines (Turning, Milling, VMC, HMC, etc.) as per production requirements
• Load and unload raw materials and finished components
• Monitor machine performance during operations and make necessary adjustments
• Maintain production records and report output details

Machine Setting & Setup

• Perform machine setup, tool setting, and job changeovers
• Select and install appropriate cutting tools, holders, and fixtures
• Set work offsets, tool offsets, and zero points accurately
• Ensure first-off approval before mass production

CNC Programming

• Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using G-code / M-code
• Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T symbols, and process sheets
• Modify programs to improve cycle time, tool life, and productivity
• Support troubleshooting of program-related issues

Quality & Inspection

• Measure components using precision measuring instruments (Vernier, Micrometer, Bore Gauge, Height Gauge, CMM basics)
• Ensure components meet dimensional and quality requirements
• Identify defects and take corrective actions

Maintenance & Safety

• Perform basic machine maintenance and daily checklists
• Ensure proper handling of tools, gauges, and equipment
• Follow safety rules, 5S, TPM, and shop floor discipline
• Report machine breakdowns and abnormal conditions

Continuous Improvement

• Support lean manufacturing, productivity improvement, and cost reduction initiatives
• Assist in process improvements and standardization
• Train junior operators and support team activities

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes
• Hands-on experience in CNC Turning / Milling / VMC / HMC
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Knowledge of cutting tools, inserts, and materials
• Understanding of quality systems and inspection methods
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Teamwork and communication skills

Qualification & Experience

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Experience:
• Operator: 1–3 years
• Setter: 3–5 years
• Programmer: 5+ years (preferred)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
