We are seeking a Automation Engineer to play a key role in designing, integrating, and scaling Industry 4.0 initiatives including SCADA and MES solutions across our 40+ global manufacturing sites. Work directly with offshore AMET Team and 3rd party contractors/vendors for project completion on time and while ensuring compliance with Pentair standards. HMI and SCADA Development: Design and create user-friendly interfaces for operators to monitor and control automation systems. IT/OT Connectivity: Ignition Edge gateway, Ignition Cloud Edition, KepServer and Edge devices. Networking and Communication: Establish communication protocols between different devices, controllers, and systems, including Routing, NAT, Ethernet IP, Modbus TCP, OPC, RS-232, RS-485 and Profinet etc. Testing and Commissioning: Conduct testing and commissioning of automation systems (FAT & SAT), ensuring they operate efficiently and meet performance specifications. Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation, including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system manuals. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve system related issues, both in the design phase and during system operation. Maintenance and Upgrades: Perform routine maintenance and recommend system upgrades to improve reliability and efficiency. Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all automation systems adhere to safety regulations and industry standards. Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software developers, and project managers, to integrate automation solutions into larger projects. Strong understanding of ISA-95 Model, electrical and control system design principles. Knowledge of advanced control algorithms and machine learning for automation with project management skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in process planning, machining strategies, and hands-on experience on the shop floor—particularly with high-precision components. Key Responsibilities: Oversee end-to-end process planning for aerospace detail part manufacturing. Lead project planning , including resource identification, scheduling, and milestone tracking. Manage First Article Inspections (FAI) and ensure smooth New Product Development/Introduction (NPD/NPI) . Identify appropriate machining processes, fixtures, and tooling strategies for complex components. Apply knowledge of CNC milling, turning , and other critical aerospace machining processes. Ensure compliance with special processes and handle a variety of aerospace-grade materials . Interpret and implement GD&T as per ASME standards in process planning and execution. Oversee special tool design, procurement, and management . Create and maintain PPAP and PFMEA documentation. Utilize standard clamping elements and recommend optimal solutions for fixture design. Ensure strict adherence to Configuration Management , including Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and change control processes. Drive continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing efficiency and process optimization. Experience with Mastercam software will be considered a strong advantage. Ensure full compliance with AS9100 quality standards. Candidate Profile: Hands-on shop floor experience is a must – candidates with only virtual manufacturing experience will not be considered. The ideal candidate should be passionate about hands-on STEM learning and capable of translating complex concepts into intuitive, durable, and learner-friendly product designs. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop metallic and mechanical part-based educational robotics kits for school and hobbyist use. Collaborate with curriculum, electronics, and content teams to create kits that align with learning goals. Create 2D drawings, 3D CAD models, and exploded views for manufacturing and assembly. Prototype, test, and iterate on mechanical designs for usability, safety, and cost-efficiency. Select appropriate materials (e.g., aluminum, steel, alloys) suitable for classroom or DIY use. Ensure designs are modular, reusable, and easy to assemble by students and educators. Work with suppliers/vendors for part sourcing, cost estimation, and production timelines. Maintain comprehensive documentation including BOM, assembly manuals, and technical specifications. Required Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field. 2+ years of experience in designing educational or robotics kits, preferably with metallic components. Good understanding of ergonomics and safety standards in educational environments. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the EdTech or robotics education sector.
