CMBS Originations & Underwriting Analyst

Join us as a "CMBS Origination & Underwriting Analyst" at Barclays, where you will be responsible for underwriting loans secured by commercial mortgages securitized in Commercial Mortgage Backed Securitized (CMBS) transactions. Your main tasks will include assessing property economics, determining appropriate loan amounts and interest rates, evaluating transaction risks, and ensuring compliance with Barclays criteria. Additionally, you will perform quarterly analysis of Balance Sheet loans and participate in underwriting & due diligence of Acquisition facilities. Key Responsibilities: - Review Offering Memos prepared by brokers and/or Borrowers to understand the real estate and requested financing. - Evaluate and organize property level income statements, rent roll, occupancy statistics, and other relevant information into excel-based models. - Conduct market research using sources such as CoStar, Reis, and public information to verify project economics and assumptions. - Review tenant leases, prepare abstracts of key terms, and evaluate historical and projected capital expenditure budgets. - Prepare asset summary reports detailing property and market characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses of the transaction. Desirable Skillsets: - Underwriting & Due Diligence of the Acquisition facilities. - Quarterly performance analysis of Balance Sheet loans including financial statements, rent rolls, and occupancy statistics. - Manage CMBS data and assist in populating centralized databases. - Interact with CMBS Origination teams, ensuring models and reports meet requirements. - Proactively identify and resolve issues, coordinate with stakeholders, and maintain meticulous attention to detail. - Ensure all activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal Barclays Policies. Qualifications Required: - Excellent knowledge of Real Estate metrics and financial statements. - Prior experience in Real Estate finance or securitized products like CMBS, RMBS. - Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and experience with Due Diligence process. - Familiarity with Bloomberg, Trepp, CoStar, and REIS. - Strong analytical skills and the ability to prepare asset summary reports.
