Job Title: Assistant Manager, Jewelry Grading Job Summary: The Assistant Manager, Jewelry Grading at client will be responsible for overseeing and performing the accurate and consistent grading of various types of jewelry, including those with set gemstones (primarily diamonds). This role requires advanced expertise in gemology, a keen eye for detail, strong leadership skills, and the ability to ensure adherence to client's stringent international grading standards and protocols. The Assistant Manager will also be involved in quality control, team training, and maintaining operational efficiency within the grading department. Responsibilities: Jewelry Grading & Analysis: Perform comprehensive grading of finished jewelry pieces, evaluating the quality, characteristics, and value of set gemstones (diamonds, colored stones) and precious metals. Utilize advanced gemological instruments and equipment for accurate identification, analysis, and grading of gemstones within their settings. Assess and determine the quality of craftsmanship, metal purity, and overall design of jewelry items. Ensure all grading adheres strictly to client's established international standards and methodologies. Quality Control & Assurance: Conduct internal quality checks on graded jewelry to ensure consistency and accuracy across the team. Identify and resolve discrepancies in grading results, providing constructive feedback to junior graders. Participate in calibration sessions to maintain uniform grading practices. Team Leadership & Training: Assist the Manager in supervising and guiding a team of Jewelry Graders and Lab Assistants. Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to new and junior graders, enhancing their skills and knowledge. Support the Manager in performance evaluations and professional development of the grading team. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain meticulous records of all graded jewelry, including detailed observations, measurements, and final grades. Prepare comprehensive grading reports and certificates accurately and efficiently. Contribute to departmental reports on productivity, quality metrics, and operational challenges. Operational Efficiency & Compliance: Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of all grading equipment. Uphold laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized, and secure work environment. Stay updated with the latest industry trends, gemological advancements, and client's evolving standards. Ensure compliance with all company policies and relevant industry regulations.
