Professional Services Consultant - CDN We are seeking an experienced and highly technical Professional Services Consultant to lead the transition of enterprise CDN, security, and performance services from Akamai to Cloudflare. You will work directly with customers, solutions architects, and engineering teams to design, plan, and implement the migration of caching, WAF, bot mitigation, edge delivery, and DNS services while ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance. Key Responsibilities: Analyze existing Akamai configurations (Property Manager, EdgeWorkers, Ion, etc.) Map equivalent features to Cloudflare (Rulesets, Workers, Cache policies, etc.) Architect and implement Cloudflare configurations: WAF rules, caching, page rules, Workers, and Rate Limiting Lead DNS migration to Cloudflare (Zone transfers, DNSSEC, TTL optimization) Migrate origin shields, SSL/TLS certs, custom rules, and performance optimizations Implement and validate security features: Bot protection, WAF rules, and DDoS mitigation Set up performance monitoring, real-user monitoring (RUM), and synthetic testing post-migration Conduct performance benchmarks and A/B tests to ensure migration success Provide technical training to customer teams on using Cloudflare dashboards, analytics, and APIs Collaborate with internal teams to escalate and resolve technical issues Document architecture, migration process, and support handover\ Technical Skills: CDN Platforms Deep knowledge of Akamai (Property Manager, EdgeWorkers, Ion) and Cloudflare (Rulesets, Workers, Cache, Polish, Argo) Protocols HTTP/1.1, HTTP/2, HTTP/3 (QUIC), TLS/SSL, DNS, TCP/IP Caching CDN cache control headers, edge caching, cache invalidation, tiered caching Security WAF rule configuration, Bot protection, Rate Limiting, IP reputation handling DNS Experience with DNS management, DNSSEC, CNAME setup, TTL strategies Scripting / Edge Compute Akamai EdgeWorkers, Cloudflare Workers (JavaScript / TypeScript) DevOps / Automation Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines Monitoring & Analytics Real User Monitoring (RUM), synthetic monitoring (Pingdom, Catchpoint), Grafana, Cloudflare analytics Certificates SSL/TLS certificate migration, Let's Encrypt, Cloudflare SSL modes Soft Skills: Strong client-facing communication and technical consulting ability Excellent documentation and project management skills Ability to troubleshoot under pressure Collaborative team player with cross-functional coordination ability Comfortable handling enterprise-level migrations with phased cutovers Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field Overall 7+ years with 5+ years in CDN, web performance, or network security roles Previous experience migrating or working with both Akamai and Cloudflare Certifications (preferred): Cloudflare Certified Developer or Architect Akamai ACA (Akamai Certified Architect) Network+, Security+ or equivalent Good to have Skills: Experience with multi-CDN strategies Familiarity with Zero Trust architectures Knowledge of performance optimization for mobile and global users Experience integrating CDNs with CI/CD workflows NGINX, Varnish, HAProxy API integrations with Terraform, Cloudflare API v4 Log forwarding and SIEM tools (Splunk, ELK)
