Job Overview: Production Head Summary The Production Head will lead the setup, commissioning, and future operations of the solar cell manufacturing lines in a greenfield facility. This role demands expertise in high-tech manufacturing processes, cleanroom operations, and production management to ensure the plant ramps up smoothly and achieves productivity, efficiency, and quality standards. The Production Head will be responsible for coordinating with engineering, utilities, quality, and supply chain teams during the project phase, and later for managing end-to-end production operations, driving continuous improvement, and meeting customer delivery targets. Key Responsibilities During the Construction & Commissioning Phase Collaborate with EPC partners, equipment suppliers, and process engineers for the setup of solar cell manufacturing lines (wafer handling, cell processing, metallization, testing, and packaging). Review and validate equipment layouts, process flows, and cleanroom requirements. Oversee installation, calibration, and qualification of process equipment. Develop production SOPs, process documentation, safety standards, and operator manuals. Recruit, train, and certify production teams (engineers, supervisors, operators) before plant commissioning. Participate in trial runs, pilot production, and process validation. Ensure smooth handover from project phase to stable production operations. During the Operations Phase Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations across all production lines. Monitor and control key production metrics: throughput, yield, cycle time, and downtime. Ensure adherence to quality standards (ISO, IEC, customer requirements). Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and TPM practices to drive productivity improvements. Optimize manpower utilization, shift planning, and shop-floor discipline. Collaborate with R&D, process engineering, and quality teams to scale production and introduce new product variants. Drive digitalization and Industry 4.0 initiatives (MES, automation, data analytics for production). Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and statutory requirements in production areas. Key Areas Under Scope Wafer Preparation & Cleaning Lines Diffusion & Oxidation Furnaces PECVD & PVD Coating Equipment Metallization & Firing Systems Laser Scribing/Edge Isolation Systems Cell Testing & Sorting Equipment Cleanroom & Production Area Management Qualifications & Experience Bachelors/Master’s in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics 15–20 years of experience in high-tech mass production (semiconductors, solar modules, solar cells). Proven experience in greenfield plant setup and production ramp-up. Deep understanding of process engineering, lean manufacturing, and yield improvement. Strong leadership and people management skills. Key Competencies Technical Expertise – Solar cell manufacturing processes, automation, and cleanroom standards.
