Payroll Sr. Associate APAC (China, Japan, Singapore) The Payroll Sr. Associate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll operations across China, Japan, and Singapore, while ensuring full compliance with local statutory and tax regulations. What you'll do: Manage end-to-end payroll processing for China, Japan, and Singapore, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. Ensure adherence to local statutory requirements including income tax, social security, CPF, MPF, and other country-specific obligations. Collaborate with internal teams (HR, Finance, Legal) and external vendors to ensure seamless payroll execution. Monitor and implement changes in local payroll legislation and ensure timely updates to payroll processes. Conduct regular audits and compliance checks to ensure payroll data integrity and audit readiness. Provide guidance to employees and internal stakeholders on payroll-related queries and statutory deductions. Support payroll-related aspects of business changes such as mergers, acquisitions, or organizational restructuring. Lead or support regional payroll compliance projects and process improvement initiatives. Identify and mitigate risks related to payroll operations and statutory compliance. Coordinate with external auditors and government agencies during audits and inspections. Maintain accurate documentation and reporting for all payroll activities across the three countries. What you'll bring: Bachelors Degree with 3+ years of experience in payroll operations across China, Japan, and/or Singapore. In-depth knowledge of statutory payroll regulations in at least two of the three countries. Experience working with regional payroll vendors and tools. Strong understanding of tax treaties, expatriate payroll, and cross-border employment compliance. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities. Proficiency in Excel and payroll reporting tools. Experience with global payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Deel, RSM) is a plus. Payroll certifications preferred. Language proficiency in Japanese or Chinese (Mandarin) is required. Candidates must possess work authorization for their intended country of employment.

Role & responsibilities Serve as the team coach, providing guidance, and operational leadership. Drive performance and foster service excellence across the payroll function. Review and approve payrolls after detailed validation, adjustments, and compliance checks performed by the payroll advisors. Ensure timely and accurate sign-off of pay runs in alignment with global payroll calendars. Manage and support Incident Management/RCA and employee Query Handling via My Kyndryl. Support cross-functional collaboration to resolve escalations and drive consistency. Communicate regularly with Tier 1, Tier 2, and Service Center Leads to ensure alignment of payroll practices. Ensure adherence to all internal controls, data privacy regulations, and statutory payroll requirements. Support internal and external audits by preparing and providing accurate documentation, reports, and detailed explanations related to payroll processes and controls. Lead and contribute to payroll transformation and simplification initiatives, with a focus on automation and process efficiency (e.g., macros, RPA tools, streamlined validations). Work with third-party payroll vendors to ensure service quality and adherence to SLAs. Preferred candidate profile Minimum 12- 15 years of hands-on experience in managing global payroll of countries such as China. Hands-on experience with payroll systems, platforms like ADP. Practical approach to payroll validation. Hands-on experience in MS Excel including macros. Experience in team leadership, coaching, providing guidance, and operational management is required. Extensive knowledge of regulatory compliance of countries such as China and APAC countries. High degree of professionalism and ability to communicate with various levels of management Good understanding of employment law, regulatory and legal compliance to meet country specific requirements Good problem-solving and analytical skills, sensitive to privacy and data management rules and detail orientated Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams
