As a JavaScript Developer, you will be responsible for optimizing and improving a modular JS codebase, working collaboratively with a cross-functional team of engineers. Your duties will also include maintaining, improving, and optimizing video player JS plugins. Additionally, you will be tasked with creating working prototypes for new concepts, ideas, or platforms using JavaScript. You will need to optimize existing charmboard video player plugins and add new features to enhance their functionality. The ideal candidate should possess a strong knowledge of core/vanilla JavaScript, with expert proficiency in both core and object-oriented JavaScript. Previous experience in shipping products using JavaScript is essential. A working knowledge of UI principles, user experience, HTML, CSS, and related web technologies is required. You should also have an awareness of cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility issues, as well as client-side performance considerations. Familiarity with web best practices such as A/B testing and test coverage is expected. Writing JavaScript unit test cases and conducting JS performance testing are part of the job responsibilities. Bonus skills that would be beneficial for this role include experience in video player plugin development on platforms like YouTube, JWPlayer, etc. Knowledge of Progressive Web App development, creating Web Components (e.g., Shadow DOM), and using unit testing frameworks like unitjs, jsunit, etc., is advantageous.
