Role & responsibilities Produce detailed take-offs and quantifications using advanced modelling and measuring software. Review plans ranging from concept sketches to detailed working drawings. Apply knowledge of relevant building codes and standards (e.g., NZS3604:2011, AS 1684:2021, or similar). Adjust model-based quantities for items not captured by software, such as special engineering or specified materials. Mentor and support the design team in plan modelling and ensure quality assurance. Stay current with construction materials, methods, and emerging products relevant to residential building. Participate in team meetings, job reviews, and training sessions during standard New Zealand working hours. Preferred candidate profile In-depth knowledge of residential building practices, with experience in countries with standards and construction methods similar to New Zealand and Australia (e.g., UK, USA, Canada). Familiarity with New Zealand/Australian building codes and the BRANZ House Building Guide is highly advantageous. Proven ability to perform detailed take-offs, including precise measurement and quantifi cation down to specifi c components. Prior experience using Quantity Surveying or Architectural Drafting software. Strong research skills to identify and understand new materials and construction methods. Excellent verbal and written English communication; clear spoken English is essential for meetings (email-only communication is insuffi cient). Confi dence with cloud-based technology and IT systems. Exceptional attention to detail and strong mathematical skills.
