Department/Unit: CCR Operations Reporting To: CCR Shift In-charge Direct Reports: None Job Purpose/Summary: To operate and monitor the melting and holding furnaces in the CCR unit, ensuring a continuous supply of molten copper at the correct temperature and quality for the casting machine, while adhering to safety protocols. Key Responsibilities & Duties: Furnace Operation: Operate controls for charging copper cathodes, melting, refining (if applicable), and holding furnaces (e.g., burners, temperature controls, atmosphere controls). Molten Metal Transfer: Manage the transfer of molten copper from the melting furnace to the holding furnace and then to the casting machine, ensuring continuous and controlled flow. Temperature Control: Maintain precise molten copper temperatures as required by the casting process. Monitoring: Continuously monitor furnace parameters, melt levels, and fuel/energy consumption. Troubleshooting: Identify and respond to minor operational issues (e.g., burner issues, temperature fluctuations). Report major issues to the Shift In-charge. Safety: Adhere strictly to all safety procedures related to working with molten metal, high temperatures, and combustion systems. Use appropriate PPE. Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organized work area around the furnaces. Data Recording: Accurately record operational data, fuel consumption, and readings in logbooks or digital systems. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Molten Copper Availability Temperature Consistency Fuel/Energy Consumption per Ton Melted Safety Incidents (Furnace Area) Adherence to Melt Parameters Required Qualifications: ITI in Process Operation, Fitter, or Mechanical, or equivalent vocational training. Required Experience: 3-6 years of experience in furnace operations in a heavy manufacturing or metallurgical plant. Required Skills: Basic understanding of melting processes and temperature control. Ability to operate control panels and HMI displays. High safety awareness , especially with molten metal. Good observational and reporting skills.
