Import Operations Manage the end-to-end import process, including documentation, shipment tracking, customs clearance, and coordination with freight forwarders and customs brokers. Ensure timely and accurate delivery of imported goods to meet business needs. Regulatory Compliance Ensure full compliance with applicable customs regulations, government trade requirements (e.g., DGFT, BIS, CBIC), and international trade agreements (e.g., FTA, WTO). Maintain accurate classification of goods (HTS/HS codes), valuation, and origin declarations. Stay updated on changing laws and communicate implications to internal teams. Documentation & Audit Prepare, review, and maintain all necessary documentation: invoices, packing lists, COO, BLs, licenses, etc. Support internal/external audits and inquiries by customs or regulatory bodies. Maintain recordkeeping as per legal and corporate requirements. Cost Optimization & Risk Management Identify and implement duty-saving opportunities such as drawback claims or FTAs. Analyze landed costs and work with finance/procurement on cost optimization. Minimize penalties and risks through effective controls and training. Stakeholder Coordination Work closely with internal teams (procurement, legal, logistics, finance) and external stakeholders (freight forwarders, customs brokers, suppliers). Provide training and guidance to teams on import regulations and compliance requirements.
