Job Summary

The Consultant Joint Replacement Surgeon is responsible for diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal conditions requiring joint replacement surgery. The role involves performing primary and revision joint replacement procedures, managing pre- and post-operative care, and ensuring high standards of patient safety and clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Evaluate patients with joint disorders such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, avascular necrosis, and trauma-related joint damage
Perform joint replacement surgeries including total knee replacement (TKR), total hip replacement (THR), and revision surgeries
Plan and manage pre-operative assessments and post-operative rehabilitation
Interpret diagnostic imaging such as X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs
Manage surgical complications and post-operative follow-up
Collaborate with anesthesiologists, physiotherapists, nurses, and other specialists
Supervise and guide junior doctors, residents, and OT staff
Maintain accurate patient records and surgical documentation
Follow hospital protocols, infection control policies, and ethical medical standards
Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing medical education
