As a caregiver in this role, you will be responsible for providing basic patient care to individuals in need. Your duties will include assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. Patient observation is crucial in this role, as you will be expected to report any changes in patient condition to nurses promptly. Providing emotional support, comfort, and companionship to patients is also an important aspect of this position. Your role will also involve assisting with medical equipment by setting up and cleaning basic tools like bedpans and wheelchairs. Documentation of basic care activities and intake/output may be required, and you may also need to accompany or transport patients for tests or procedures. To succeed in this role, you must possess qualities such as compassion, empathy, physical stamina, patience, and calmness. Basic medical knowledge, good observation skills, effective communication, time management, and the ability to follow instructions are also essential.
