Company: Leading General Insurance. Role: AVP - Marine Risk Engineer Location: Delhi. Key Responsibilities: Drive the Marine Loss control engineering activities to control losses in marine cargo transit, assess the risk for underwriting and create conditions to close the business and manage the loss ratio of on boarded-business, by Assessing risk for underwriters, perform a root cause analysis of claims, visit cargo handling locations, issue report with observations, deficiencies and address the same to client as a follow up post audit report closures and track recommendations given to minimize and mitigate losses in transit by following up on recommendation implementation process. Lead & Drive marine warranty surveying activities that includes a) Condition assessment surveys [Surface + AIR +Sea +RAIL +MM], Domestic --> PDI (pre dispatch inspection) Ground surveys, International --> PDI (pre dispatch inspection) [Ground + Virtual (wo/a) + Remote (wi/a) ], Dispatch Inspections (Virtual wi/a) (Domestic and International) and Vessel surveys [ SIRE + CAS (conditional assessment surveys) + PP (pre purchase) +DR (desktop review)]. Create innovative ideas with external resources and own contribution on ground and with ideas & strategies. Incharge to control and mitigate transit risk of critical cargo, ODC over dimensional cargo dispatches with the available means in the company Showcase the expertise of cargo securing in the form of value added service by engaging with the marine Insured clients with a) risk assessment interactions with Insured's logistics team, b) Pre risk-insception surveys, c) give survey waiver approvals [SWA] basis SOP and d) facilitate loss Prevention technical support (Transhipments, Escorting, Defensive driving programmes etc) and e) arrange / facilitate route surveys prior dispatch of concerning ODC units Assess vessel by its IMO no and create mechanism to have a visibility of the vessels safety rating or other vital information that can give the Insured and the underwriters information pertaining to risk assessment Drive a STS ship to ship handling project that offers our customer complete end to end support by covering their cargo when it performs cargo transpiration at high seas by STS operations. Responsible to keepthe loss ratio under control with MLCE marine loss control engineering activities on the policies where frequency losses are on a higher side and peril can be managed with valuable recommendations that should be feasible to adopt. Qualifications: Merchant Navy COC from MMD, DG Shipping India or AMSA or UK MCGA. Having 2 nd mate licence or mate certificate. SEA service more than 36 months as OOW, 2 nd Mate / Chief Mate, collective sea time on dry cargo vessel. 7+ years in the surface logistics industry driving innovation for loss minimization and effective transportation. Additional expertise: Have an understanding of Pivot point, COG, principles of shift of cargo, adequate lashing, longitudinal, lateral , transverse shift when the cargo is in momentum on a vehicle. Relationship of the Mass of the cargo getting an impact on its pivot point w.r.t the angle of banking of the road whilst the vehicle is in a specific speed. Having an understanding on root cause of overturning and how the same should be restricted with securing measures. Have an idea of lashing calculations. Knowledge of draft survey calculation, understanding of SOLAS, IMBC code, IMDG code. Experience: Sea service of More than 36 months as deck officer in merchant navy. 2 years as a marine superintendent. Surveying experience of cargo and vessels.
