The role of an Optimization Engineer at our company involves utilizing your background in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering along with strong analytical and programming skills to enhance product and process efficiency. Your main responsibilities will include lead time reduction, material and weight optimization, design and process enhancements, labor efficiency, and chemical composition refinement. By leveraging CAD/CAE tools, data analytics, and optimization techniques, you will drive continuous improvement across engineering and manufacturing workflows. In this position, you will have the opportunity to: - Analyze and streamline product development and manufacturing workflows for lead time reduction, using automation and digital tools to accelerate design iterations and production cycles. - Optimize material usage by evaluating alternative materials through simulation, testing, and cost-benefit analysis, collaborating with suppliers and design teams to identify lightweight and sustainable options. - Continuously validate and enhance existing algorithms in the Optimization System to streamline processes. - Enhance product performance and manufacturability through design optimization, integrating principles of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Excellence (DFX) using CAD/CAE tools and algorithms. - Identify inefficiencies in manufacturing and assembly lines and implement improvements through process optimization, supported by data analytics, process modeling, and custom software tools. - Redesign components and assemblies to minimize weight and labor requirements, introducing ergonomic and automation solutions to improve productivity. - Collaborate with materials scientists and chemists to refine chemical compositions for performance, cost-effectiveness, and environmental compliance, validating formulations through simulations and lab testing. - Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines while embodying Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity. To be successful in this role, you should have: - A Bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or a related field, with 3 to 6 years of relevant experience. - Proficiency in CAD/CAE tools such as Creo Parametric, ANSYS, and Matlab. - Experience with optimization techniques, manufacturing processes, and materials science. - Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of programming languages. - Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. - Proficiency in both spoken and written English language.
