CAD Design Engineer (Solar)

Role Overview: You will be responsible for utilizing CAD software to create detailed designs for solar power systems, develop accurate 2D and 3D CAD models, create electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, collaborate with engineers for system integration, and review site-specific data for design decisions. Key Responsibilities: - Utilize CAD software to create detailed designs for solar power systems, including layouts for solar panels, inverters, wiring, and electrical components. - Develop accurate 2D and 3D CAD models based on site-specific data, such as roof plans, shading analysis, and system sizing. - Create electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, ensuring compliance with industry standards, local regulations, and safety codes. - Collaborate with engineers to integrate solar panels with inverters, storage systems, and other electrical components. - Review and analyze site-specific data to inform design decisions and provide design recommendations based on various factors. - Prepare design documentation, project plans, and detailed bills of materials for permitting, installation, and inspection purposes. - Work closely with project managers, engineers, and installers to ensure designs meet client requirements and communicate design changes effectively. - Assist in troubleshooting design issues during the installation process. Qualifications: - Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field (or equivalent experience). - Experience: Proven experience in solar system design, particularly with CAD software, and knowledge of solar energy principles and system integration. - Skills & Competencies: Proficiency in CAD software, understanding of electrical schematics and solar system components, strong problem-solving skills, and knowledge of local regulations and building codes. - Certifications: Solar Design certification, such as NABCEP Solar PV Design Professional, is highly preferred.
