About the Role :
This Business Data Steward role in the Clinical Planning & Insights (CP&I) Team is an exciting opportunity for data-driven professionals to channel their passion for data quality and integrity while helping shape the future of GSK’s Global Clinical Operations function. This individual contributor position is part of a team of 4–5 members and plays a critical role in transforming the way GSK uses data and quantitative thinking to drive decision-making in R&D.

Global Clinical Operations is the single-largest functional group within GSK’s Development organization. Our work ensures that human subject research planning and execution is central to R&D decision-making—enabling scientists to make timely, data-driven choices about which potential new medicines and vaccines hold the most promise for patients. Ultimately, this work aims to make the development process more efficient and maximize success.

As part of GSK’s investment in cutting-edge trial operational analytics capabilities, this role offers an opportunity to work within the Digital, Analytics, and Performance team to drive improvements in clinical operations data quality and integrity.

Key Responsibilities :
As a Business Data Steward, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of clinical operations data to enable better planning and monitoring of GSK’s clinical trials. Your primary focus will be on specific data domains, with responsibilities including:

Data Definition and Metadata Cataloging :

• Ensure clear definitions and metadata documentation for assigned data domains.

Data Standards and Governance :

• Ensure data meets required standards as per defined data governance policies.

• Define data classification, security, use, and quality standards to adhere to compliance policies.

Data Quality Assurance :

• Establish data quality checks and resolve issues by collaborating with Product Owners and data source SMEs.

• Triage and resolve user queries regarding data domains.

Data Flow and Lineage :

• Understand and document data flow and lineage to ensure transparency and traceability across systems and processes.

Issue Resolution and Collaboration :

• Resolve data quality issues in a matrix organization through cross-functional collaboration.

• Support third-party activity monitoring related to data management.
  

Qualifications and Experience :

We are looking for professionals with the following qualifications and experience to join our team:

• Education :

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree (BSc) or equivalent in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).

• Experience :

  • 10+ years of experience in data management, data quality, or a related role.

  • Experience in Pharma Development Data is preferred.

  • Proven ability to solve data quality issues in a matrix organization.

  • Expertise in SQL for querying, managing, and analyzing data is a must.

  • Experience in data analysis, including the ability to interpret and derive insights from complex datasets.

  • Familiarity with data flow and lineage concepts to track and document how data moves across systems and processes.

  • Experience with Collibra or similar data governance tools is a plus.

• Skills :

  • Excellent and effective interpersonal communication skills, with a strong ability to collaborate across diverse teams.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
