ROLE DESCRIPTION This is a full-time on-site role for a Demi Chef De Partie and commi located in CHANDIGARH(PREOPENING). The Demi Chef De Partie will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and presentation of dishes, maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety, managing kitchen stations, ensuring that food is cooked and served to the highest quality, and collaborating with the team to develop new menu items. The role also involves training junior kitchen staff and ensuring smooth kitchen operations. The duties of a Commi Pastry Chef generally revolve around preparation, execution, and station maintenance: Dessert Preparation : Assisting senior pastry chefs with the preparation and production of all dessert and pastry items, including mise en place (chopping, measuring, mixing ingredients) for the day's service. Following Recipes: Accurately following standardized recipes and preparation methods for all baked goods, doughs, fillings, and finished desserts as set by the Head Pastry Chef. Plating and Presentation : Assisting with the final plating, garnishing, and presentation of desserts to ensure they meet the restaurant's quality and aesthetic standards. Stock Management : Monitoring stock levels, assisting with the receiving and proper storage of pastry ingredients (perishable and non-perishable), and practicing FIFO (First-In, First-Out) stock rotation to minimize waste. Hygiene and Safety : Maintaining impeccable personal hygiene and ensuring the pastry section, equipment, and utensils are kept clean, sanitized, and organized according to food safety and hygiene regulations. Key Requirements & Skills A successful candidate for this junior role would typically possess: Education/Training: A professional kitchen apprenticeship, certificate, or diploma in Culinary Arts or Pastry/Baking. Experience : Some basic prior experience in a professional pastry or bakery section is often preferred, but is not always mandatory for a Commi level I or II. Technical Skills : Basic knowledge of baking techniques, different ingredients, and the correct operation of pastry equipment (mixers, ovens, etc.). Work Ethic : A strong passion for pastry, a willingness to learn, and the ability to take direction effectively from senior chefs.
