As a Factory Manager at Wernick Modular Hire in Cannock, England, you will have the opportunity to lead, develop, and manage the factory in the refurbishment and reconfiguration of modules to agreed standards and specifications. Your role will be crucial in ensuring quality, safety, security, and minimizing wastage at all times. You will play an active role in the development of the factory to meet the needs of the Mod Hire business over the next 5-10 years. Developing systems and procedures to ensure the security and safety of the factory, yard, and stock will be a key responsibility. It will be essential to demonstrate a proactive attitude towards problem-solving and create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all working practices. Recruiting, training, and motivating factory operatives will be part of your duties, along with supporting staff members to understand and excel in their roles. Ensuring all health and safety procedures are adhered to, and legal and company inspections are carried out, will be crucial. You will need to liaise with project teams on work in progress to ensure orders are completed on time and that all company documentation is completed accurately and submitted promptly. Minimizing material wastage, ensuring safe loading and unloading of cabins/buildings and materials, maintaining a clean and orderly workshop and yard, and producing production plans for the current workload will also be part of your responsibilities. You may need to organize, arrange, and manage subcontract labor if required and carry out any other duties agreed upon from time to time. To be successful in this role, you must have factory management experience at a senior level with relevant qualifications, preferably within the construction industry. Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills are essential, along with a full UK driving license. Desirable criteria include professionally qualified certifications such as CSCS (black card), CPCS, First Aid, IPAF, and management qualifications. Experience with mobile crane operations, forklift truck licenses, proficiency in writing Microsoft Project programs, and working knowledge of standard forms of Building Contracts (JCT and NEC) are also beneficial.
