Description
As the Head of Search & Licensing, your primary role is to lead and expand the firm's Search & Licensing vertical. You will provide strategic guidance, technical supervision, and business acumen to ensure the vertical's overall success, profitability, and expansion. Your responsibilities will include managing a team of 25 to 30 professionals, overseeing performance, enhancing capabilities, and maintaining service excellence. Additionally, you will be responsible for planning, staffing, hiring, and revenue generation within the vertical. Key Responsibilities: - **Vertical Leadership & Strategy**: - Develop and execute the strategic roadmap for the Search & Licensing business unit. - Align the vertical's offerings with market demands and evolving IP trends. - Set annual goals, budget forecasts, and investment plans for the BU. - **Revenue Generation & P&L Ownership**: - Take ownership of the vertical's P&L and ensure revenue targets are achieved. - Formulate pricing strategies, allocate resources efficiently, and optimize services to maximize profitability. - Monitor project pipelines, billing, and receivables in collaboration with the Finance Team. - **Service Delivery & Quality Assurance**: - Supervise the end-to-end execution of all IP Search and Analytics services, including Patentability/ Novelty Searches, Freedom To Operate (FTO) Searches, Invalidity/ Validity Searches, and Patent Landscaping/ Technology Scouting. - Implement stringent quality control measures and ensure timely delivery. - **IP Monetization & Licensing**: - Develop and implement IP Monetization strategies. - Assist clients in identifying licensing opportunities, negotiating deals, and executing transactions. - Establish a robust partner/ licensee ecosystem across various industries. - **Client Engagement & Satisfaction**: - Act as a strategic advisor to clients, offering insight-driven IP solutions. - Maintain high client satisfaction and retention through proactive communication and consistent service quality. - **Team Leadership & Performance Management**: - Lead a team of analysts, senior searchers, and licensing professionals. - Foster a culture of high performance, continuous learning, and accountability. - Monitor performance and conduct regular feedback and appraisal sessions. - **Staffing Strategy & Hiring**: - Forecast manpower requirements in line with project pipelines and growth objectives. - Collaborate with HR to attract, interview, and onboard top talent. - Identify skill gaps, create upskilling plans, and enhance internal capabilities. - **Capability Building & Leadership Development**: - Mentor and prepare high-potential team members for future leadership roles. - Conduct regular training sessions on search techniques, licensing frameworks, and communication. - **Process Excellence & Technology Adoption**: - Establish and maintain SOPs, templates, and checklists to standardize quality and efficiency. - Evaluate and incorporate advanced patent databases and AI/ analytics tools for enhanced output. - **Business Development & Thought Leadership**: - Support business development initiatives by promoting Search & Licensing services to new and existing clients. - Represent the firm at industry events, IP forums, and publications to cultivate thought leadership.
