We are seeking a Principal IAM Engineer to drive technical leadership and engineering excellence across our Identity and Access Management infrastructure. This role will spearhead our cloud migration initiatives , take ownership from external consultants, and establish internal technical expertise for our enterprise IAM solutions. As part of the global IAM team, you'll work in a flexible, collaborative environment with core responsibilities focused on hands-on engineering, architecture, and technical consultation rather than day-to-day operational support. This position is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and requires relocation for candidates not currently residing in Malaysia. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Engineering Lead hands-on engineering activities including installation, deployment, and architecture-level configuration of IAM solutions Drive on-premises to cloud migration projects for our IAM infrastructure (AWS/Azure environments) Perform Level 3 troubleshooting and complex backend integrations involving databases, networking, and enterprise systems Design and implement end-to-end IAM workflows with comprehensive testing and validation Knowledge Transfer & Consultant Management Collaborate with external consultants to absorb technical expertise and best practices Lead knowledge transfer initiatives to establish internal capabilities and reduce external dependencies Participate in tender processes and vendor evaluations for IAM solutions Mentor and guide team members on technical implementations and troubleshooting approaches Integration & Automation Develop and maintain complex backend integrations between IAM platforms and enterprise applications Create automation scripts for IAM processes using PowerShell, Java, BeanShell, and other technologies Ensure seamless integration with Active Directory, Entra ID, HR systems, and business applications Strategic Consultation & Communication Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Agile delivery teams Communicate technical concepts to stakeholders across business and technical teams in accessible terms Provide technical consultation on IAM architecture, security, and integration patterns Required Qualifications Technical Expertise 3+ years of senior-level IAM engineering experience with hands-on architecture and deployment capabilities Cloud migration experience transitioning IAM solutions from on-premises to cloud environments (AWS/Azure) Deep expertise in enterprise IAM platforms - SailPoint experience highly preferred, or equivalent platforms (Saviynt, Okta IGA, Oracle/IBM Identity Governance) Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and Active Directory expertise in enterprise environments Backend systems knowledge including databases, networking, and enterprise application integration Advanced scripting capabilities (PowerShell, Java, BeanShell) for automation and custom development Leadership & Collaboration Consultant and vendor management experience with knowledge transfer responsibilities Technical communication skills - ability to explain complex concepts to diverse stakeholders Agile methodology experience as technical SME Incident management and complex troubleshooting leadership Cross-functional collaboration with infrastructure, security, and application teams Experience Scale Enterprise-scale IAM implementations supporting 5,000+ users across multiple sites Multi-platform integration experience with complex source and target systems End-to-end project delivery from architecture through implementation and support Preferred Qualifications IAM certifications (SailPoint, Microsoft, cloud platforms) Privileged Access Management (PAM) experience ITIL Foundation or equivalent process framework knowledge Previous consulting experience or extensive work with external consultants Multi-regional project experience
