Job Title: Health and Safety Officer Location: SIPCOT Industrial Growth Centre, Perundurai, Tamil Nadu, India Industry: Textile (Wet Processing Unit with ZLD System) Work Type: Full-Time | On-site Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Health and Safety Officer to oversee and manage all aspects of occupational health and safety in a TQM (Total Quality Management) certified textile wet processing plant . The candidate will ensure compliance with statutory safety norms, handle environment and safety protocols related to Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) operations, and work in coordination with departments using SAP-based systems . Key Responsibilities:1. Compliance & Safety Management Ensure adherence to Tamil Nadu Factories Rules , BIS norms , and MoEF&CC/ZLD guidelines . Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and inspections in line with TQM practices. Develop, implement, and maintain EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) policies. Maintain all statutory documentation including Form 13, accident registers, MSDS, etc. 2. ZLD and Environmental Safety Monitor safe handling, treatment, and disposal of effluents through the ZLD system. Ensure environmental safeguards are followed as per TNPCB and CPCB norms. Collaborate with environmental engineers and plant operators to prevent chemical hazards or leaks. 3. Training and Awareness Conduct training sessions for employees and contract workers on fire safety, chemical handling, PPE usage, and emergency response. Promote safety awareness aligned with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems, integrated with TQM practices. 4. Emergency Preparedness Design and periodically test emergency evacuation plans and fire drills. Maintain first aid stations and coordinate with nearby medical facilities for occupational emergencies. 5. SAP & Reporting Document incidents, inspections, and audit findings using SAP EHSM (Environment, Health, and Safety Management) modules. Generate regular reports and KPIs to senior management on safety performance. Qualifications & Skills:Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science. Diploma/Certification in Industrial Safety (recognized by DGFASLI/CLI). Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a textile or chemical processing unit with ZLD and TQM environment. Familiarity with SAP EHSM , ZLD systems, and chemical safety is mandatory . Key Skills: Strong knowledge of occupational safety standards and textile industry risks. Experience with root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action planning (CAP) . Good communication in Tamil and English . Desirable: Exposure to Lean Manufacturing , Kaizen , or Six Sigma is a plus. Experience working in SIPCOT or similar industrial clusters preferred. Job Title: Training Officer – Textile Wet Processing & ZLD Operations Location: SIPCOT Industrial Park, Perundurai, Tamil Nadu, India Industry: Textile Manufacturing (Wet Processing) Department: Training & Development / Human Resources Reports to: HR Manager / Plant Head Job Purpose: To plan, organize, and conduct effective training programs that enhance the skills and compliance of employees in textile wet processing operations and Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) plant management, ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities: 1. Training Planning and Implementation Identify training needs in wet processing, effluent treatment (ZLD), safety, quality, and compliance. Develop annual training calendars and schedules in consultation with department heads. Conduct orientation programs for new hires and skill enhancement workshops for existing staff. 2. ZLD Plant Operations Training Provide focused training on Zero Liquid Discharge systems including: Primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment processes RO (Reverse Osmosis), MEE (Multi Effect Evaporator), and ATFD (Agitated Thin Film Dryer) Sludge handling, chemical dosing, and water recovery Ensure operational teams understand ETP/ZLD SOPs, safety procedures, and environmental regulations. 3. Textile Wet Processing Training Deliver training modules on fabric preparation, dyeing, washing, finishing, and chemical handling. Emphasize sustainable practices, water and energy conservation, and quality control standards. Support machine operators, lab technicians, and supervisors with on-the-job coaching. 4. Compliance and Documentation Maintain training logs, attendance sheets, feedback forms, and skill assessment reports. Ensure training programs comply with ISO, GOTS, ZDHC, and local pollution control board norms. Coordinate with the EHS team to conduct mock drills and safety workshops. 5. Evaluation and Continuous Improvement Monitor training effectiveness and update materials based on performance gaps and audit findings. Encourage cross-functional learning and certification programs for technical staff. Collaborate with external trainers, consultants, or institutions for specialized modules. Qualifications and Experience: Educational Background: Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Textile Technology, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Safety, or related field. Experience: Minimum 3 years in training or technical operations in a textile wet processing/ZLD environment. Technical Skills: Knowledge of ZLD operations, textile processing methods, and ETP protocols. Preferred: Exposure to ISO 14001, GOTS, Oeko-Tex, or sustainability standards.
