Operating cameras to capture high-quality video or film, collaborating with directors and other production staff on visual storytelling, managing and maintaining camera equipment, and ensuring shots are composed creatively with proper lighting and camera angles. Key responsibilities include setting up shots, framing and moving cameras, troubleshooting technical issues, and sometimes editing footage to create a cohesive narrative. Camera Operation: Expertly operate a variety of camera equipment, lenses, and accessories to capture high-quality footage. Collaboration: Work closely with directors, producers, and other crew members to translate the script and director's vision into compelling cinematography. Lighting & Composition: Use natural and artificial light to create a specific mood and atmosphere, while also carefully composing shots with appropriate angles, framing, and movement. Equipment Management: Assemble, set up, and maintain all camera and lighting equipment, ensuring it is in good working order. Technical Execution: Prepare cameras for shoots, select and install lenses and filters, and adjust settings for desired effects and exposure. Problem-Solving: Address and resolve any technical or practical issues that arise on set. Storytelling: Contribute creative input and practical suggestions for scene planning to achieve the best visual results. Footage Editing (Sometimes): Select and arrange shots to create a coherent story or compile edited versions of the footage.
