ACS Publications in India is looking to hire Development Editors with expertise in environmental sciences and related fields. This role will be based in the Delhi office of ACSI, a subsidiary of the American Chemical Society. As a Development Editor, you will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of ACS journals publishing strategies and editorial initiatives to strengthen ACS journals" position within the global chemistry community. You will collaborate with Editors and ACS staff to drive the editorial peer review process and ensure effective communication of editorial decisions for journals. Reporting to the Senior Editorial Staff in the ACSI Delhi office, you will work closely with the Managing Editor, Executive Editors, and Editor-in-Chief to streamline the peer review processes of journals and maintain a positive author experience. Your responsibilities will include screening and evaluating submitted manuscripts, communicating editorial decisions, developing internal documents to facilitate the peer-review process, refining editorial peer review processes, and facilitating the workflow for transferring declined manuscripts to other ACS journals. To excel in this role, you should hold a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology/Bioengineering, Environmental Sciences, Materials Science and Engineering, or other related fields. Candidates who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis are particularly encouraged to apply. Additionally, you should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, a strong technical knowledge base, and the ability to engage effectively with external stakeholders such as editors and authors. You should also be willing to adapt and learn about new scientific fields to comprehend the research published in the journal and its alignment with other journals in the ACS portfolio. This position does not require prior experience, but a Ph.D. qualification is essential. While initial travel expectations are minimal due to the ongoing pandemic, future travel requirements may include in-country events and activities, as well as occasional international meetings.
