BIM Design Manager (MEP Mechanical/Electrical) Location: Chennai Experience: 15+ years Industry: Industrial, Commercial, Infrastructure, or Building Services Reporting to: Design Head Job Summary: The BIM Design Manager will be responsible for leading the BIM strategy, implementation, and coordination for MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems in large-scale industrial and commercial projects. The role requires expertise in BIM workflows, model management, clash detection, and coordination across disciplines to ensure efficient and optimized project delivery . Key Responsibilities: 1. BIM Management & Implementation Develop and enforce BIM execution plans (BEP) and standards for MEP projects. Oversee the implementation of BIM workflows and ensure alignment with project requirements. Manage and coordinate BIM models for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Conduct regular clash detection and resolve coordination issues between disciplines. Lead BIM coordination meetings with consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders. 2. Design Leadership & Technical Expertise Review and validate MEP models, drawings, and design documentation. Ensure compliance with industry standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, IEC, ISO 19650, etc.). Provide technical guidance on mechanical and electrical system designs. Optimize system layouts using BIM tools to improve efficiency and reduce clashes. 3. Project Coordination & Collaboration Work closely with architects, structural engineers, and other design teams. Support planning, estimation, and construction teams with accurate BIM data. Manage document control and ensure proper versioning of design files. Provide training and mentorship to junior BIM engineers and designers. 4. Software & Technology Management Expert in Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Dynamo, and BIM 360. Experience with parametric modeling, scripting (Dynamo/Python), and automation. Knowledge of cloud-based collaboration tools and Common Data Environment (CDE). Evaluate new BIM technologies and recommend improvements to workflows. Qualifications & Skills: Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. 15+ years of experience in MEP design and BIM management. Strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills. Deep understanding of MEP systems and their integration into BIM workflows. Experience in large-scale industrial, commercial, or infrastructure projects. Knowledge of construction methodologies and sequencing related to MEP.
