Are you passionate about building high-performing data engineering teams that deliver best-in-class data products and solutions Do you want to make a long-term impact on technology and business strategy Are you ready to shape the future of small business owners in Last Mile delivery We are seeking an experienced technical leader to join the Last Mile Delivery Service Partner (DSP) Analytics organization as an Business Intelligence Engineering Manager.In this role, you will lead a team of Engineers (Business Intelligence Engineers and Data Scientists) to build and maintain robust data and reporting that enables DSP Performance measurement and continuous improvement. You will drive the development of scalable data solutions, simplify data access, and unlock self-service insights through automation and best practices.Key job responsibilitiesTeam Leadership & DevelopmentBuild, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of Business Intelligence Engineers to create and support datasets, metrics, and KPIs aligned with DSP business goalsRecruit top talent and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and professional growthProvide guidance, feedback, and performance evaluations to team members, driving their technical development and career successDevelop team members technical skills in data engineering, distributed systems, and cloud technologiesTechnical Strategy & ExecutionPartner with Data Engineers (DEs), Product Management Teams (PMTs), Software Development Managers (SDMs), and technical teams to build relevant data products and solutionsDefine and develop data infrastructure, including data pipelines, data warehousing, and ETL/ELT processesDrive data governance initiatives including data integrity, metrics definitions, single source of truth, accountability, and documentationImplement tooling and automation to continuously measure KPIs and empower Delivery Associates (DAs) and DSPs to improve safety, quality, and experienceStay current with technology trends, methodologies, and tools in AI/Automation, recommending, and implementing technologies that enhance capabilities and efficienciesBusiness Partnership & StrategyEstablish strategic partnerships with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutionsBuild the team's 1-year plan (1YP) and 3-year plan (3YP) vision and effectively communicate progress on key initiativesOwn and drive roadmap strategy and definitions for data engineering deliverablesMake feature delivery decisions and manage tradeoffs in data product developmentContribute to engineering, technology, and data product strategy decisions at the organizational levelData Products & Analytics EnablementOversee development of data products including scorecards, incentive systems, dashboards, and visualizations for key metrics and KPIsPartner with DSP Performance program managers to develop relevant and defensible metrics that drive and track business strategyEnable self-service analytics capabilities for business users through well-designed data models and documentation
Basic Qualifications
- 7+ years of business intelligence and analytics experience
- 5+ years of delivering results managing a business intelligence or analytics team, including employee development and performance management experience
- Experience with SQL
- Experience with ETL
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience with R, Python, Weka, SAS, Matlab or other statistical/machine learning software
- Experience leading and influencing the data strategy of your team or organization
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
- Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
Preferred Qualifications
- 4+ years of working with very large data warehousing environment experience
- 10+ years of data warehouse technical architectures, data modeling, infrastructure components, ETL/ ELT and reporting/analytic tools and environments, data structures and hands-on SQL coding experience
- Master's degree in computer science, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, IT or equivalent
- Experience in Amazon Redshift and other AWS technologies
- Experience building large-scale, high-throughput, 24x7 data systems
- Experience communicating technical details verbally and in writing
- Experience dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering measurable results in an agile environment
- Experience with data orchestration tools (Airflow, Step Functions, or similar)
- Experience with modern data stack tools and practices
