The Machine Operator (Piping) is responsible for operating and maintaining machines used in the production of piping systems, including cutting, threading, bending, and welding equipment. You will need to adhere to safety standards, ensure precision in measurements, and maintain quality control of the output. You will be required to operate pipe processing machines such as pipe cutters, threaders, benders, and welding units. Reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders will be essential for the role. Setting up machines according to job specifications, performing test runs, and monitoring machine operations are key responsibilities. You must make adjustments as necessary to maintain quality and inspect finished pipes for defects to ensure they meet industry and company standards. Routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment, recording production data, and reporting any issues to the supervisor will also be part of your duties. Following safety protocols, wearing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), assisting with inventory handling and material loading/unloading, and collaborating with team members and departments for efficient workflow are important aspects of the job. Qualifications & Skills required for this role include a high school diploma or ITI or equivalent vocational training, along with a minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience as a machine operator in a piping or similar manufacturing environment. Basic knowledge of piping materials such as PVC, CPVC, HDPE, and steel is necessary. You should be able to use measuring tools like calipers, micrometers, and tape measures, have an understanding of safety regulations and machine operation standards, possess physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy materials, and be a team player with attention to detail and quality.
