Backend Lead Architect

We are seeking a Senior Backend Lead to spearhead the architecture, development, and deployment of scalable backend systems and services. You should possess a profound understanding of SQL and SQL architecture, backend development utilizing Node.js and Java, microservices architecture, as well as modern cloud-native technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, and MongoDB. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers, establishing backend standards, and ensuring the application of best practices throughout the development, testing, and deployment processes. Your primary responsibilities will include leading the design, development, and deployment of scalable and secure backend services, optimizing relational database systems with a focus on SQL performance tuning, designing and implementing distributed systems utilizing Kafka for event-driven architecture, promoting containerized deployments through Docker and Kubernetes, and developing RESTful and GraphQL APIs using Node.js and/or Java. You will also be tasked with defining and enforcing best practices related to backend development, CI/CD, testing, and monitoring, collaborating with various teams including product managers, frontend developers, DevOps, and QA, mentoring junior engineers, conducting code reviews and technical training, overseeing end-to-end delivery from planning to production release, and ensuring the high availability, reliability, and maintainability of backend systems. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 8 years of experience in backend engineering, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership position. You must possess expert-level knowledge in SQL and SQL database architecture, proficiency in Node.js and/or Java (specifically Spring Boot), experience working with NoSQL databases like MongoDB, a strong understanding of Kafka for data streaming and messaging, hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments, familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, experience in designing scalable microservices and service orchestration, and a solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
