Criteria

4–8 years of backend software engineering experience

Strong builder/founder experience - ideally a founder (CTO) or founding engineer in a VC funded company with traction

Proficiency in Python, FastAPI/Flask

Top Tier University - IITs

Clear, meaningful reason to switch jobs - not just passively looking

Bonus: Experience with fintech, ERP/accounting systems, or AI infra is great—but not required

Competitive Programming or Math Olympiad backgrounds - IOI, USACO Camp, USACO Platinum ACM ICPC World FInals, USAMO honorable mention, USAMO winner, MOP qualifier, IMO

Worked at a startup from seed to Series A/B.

Competitive programming background (ICPC finalist, Olympiad, etc.)

Blend of experience across unicorn or big tech companies (Uber, Stripe, Plaid, Lyft, Instacart, Coinbase, Robinhood) and early stage startups

ETL/data engineering experience

Red flags

Experience at legacy or late-stage companies without clear areas of ownership and building end to end

Purely big tech experience without startup experience

Purely frontend experience or mostly frontend experience
