Roles & Responsibilities: Perform daily VDI administration, maintenance, and upgrades, including service packs, patches, hotfixes, and security configurations. Create and maintain VDI master images and desktop pools. Monitor performance, respond to event alerts, and take appropriate action. Extensive experience with Citrix Provisioning Services (PVS) or Machine Creation Services (MCS) in a VDI environment. Manage Windows patching in a VDI environment. Implement new desktop systems according to documented plans and published change control processes. Citrix Experience: Networking experience, including Citrix Administration. Proficient in Windows Server (2012/2016/2019). PowerShell scripting. Configuring and managing Citrix Storefronts. Build, manage, and troubleshoot multiple large Active Directory environments. Experience with Citrix product upgrades and migration tasks, including hotfix management. Knowledge of Citrix Secure Gateway, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP concepts. Experience with Citrix printing. Professional & Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with Public Cloud (Azure, Azure WVD, Citrix). Excellent understanding of Azure WVD and Azure Fundamentals. Good administration skills for both Azure and Citrix. Understanding of various VDI flavors (pooled, dedicated) and troubleshooting skills. Knowledge of ITIL processes for managing requests, incidents, changes, and problems. Familiarity with FSLogix is an added advantage. Certifications (Good to Have): AZ-140: Configuring and Operating Windows Virtual Desktop on Microsoft Azure. AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals. Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops Service Integration with Microsoft Azure (1Y0-150). Additional Information: Bachelor's degree. Exposure and working-level knowledge of interfacing with global delivery teams. Strong communication style and ability to work with customers and teams. Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and proactive Power Platform & Azure Automation Specialist working in the context of Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) plays a key role in automating, optimizing and enhancing virtual desktop environments using tools like Power Automate, Power Apps, Azure, Azure Functions, Azure Runbooks and other automation services. Here are the core roles and responsibilities typically associated with this position: Core Responsibilities 1. Automation Design & Implementation Design and implement automation workflows using Azure Automation , Power Automate , Azure Functions and power shell for Azure Virtual Desktop operations. Create and manage Runbooks to automate AVD-related tasks (e.g., VM provisioning, scaling and user session management). Develop scheduled tasks to power on/off session hosts, optimize costs, and manage session host health. 2. Power Platform Integration Build Power Apps to provide custom user interfaces for managing AVD operations (e.g., VM request forms, troubleshooting tools). Use Power Automate to automate repetitive tasks like user onboarding/offboarding, notifications, and license assignments. Integrate Power Platform with Azure services to build end-to-end solutions. 3. Monitoring and Alerting Automation Configure automated alerts and monitoring using Azure Monitor , Log Analytics , and Automation Runbooks . Create workflows to respond to issues automatically (e.g., restart VMs on failure, notify admins of session issues). 4. Security and Compliance Automation Implement automation to enforce security policies (e.g., Just-In-Time VM access, RBAC changes). Automate auditing and reporting of AVD usage and access compliance using Power BI and Log Analytics. 5. Collaboration & Support Work with infrastructure, security, and operations teams to gather requirements and deploy automation solutions. Provide support for AVD-related automation issues and continuously improve workflows based on feedback. Skills and Tools Required Power Platform : Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI Azure Automation : Runbooks (PowerShell/Python), Hybrid Workers Azure Services : Azure Virtual Desktop, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions Scripting : PowerShell (especially for AVD and automation tasks), ARM/Bicep. Monitoring : Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, KQL Security : RBAC, Azure AD, Conditional Access, Azure Policy Required Skills & Qualifications: At least 8+ years of experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Dataverse) Solid understanding of Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) architecture and management Experience building and consuming Azure Functions (PowerShell or C#) Proficiency in Log Analytics (KQL) and building alert-based workflows Experience integrating with Microsoft Graph API for user and resource management Understanding of Azure RBAC , Managed Identities, and secure API calls Experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint and Azure Services is a plus Strong scripting skills in PowerShell Familiarity with CI/CD practices and Azure DevOps is a plus Preferred Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Power Platform App Maker Associate Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Developer Associate (optional) Key Outcomes Expected Reduced manual effort in managing AVD environments. Required Qualifications Hands-on expertise in designing and managing Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) Strong knowledge of Azure services, including Azure AD, networking, storage, and security. Experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops or VMware Horizon is highly desirable. Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation tools. Knowledge of networking protocols, VPN, and firewall configurations. Familiarity with virtualization concepts, VDI technologies, and desktop OS management. Certifications in Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect are an advantage Experience leading and managing technical teams. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
