AWS/Azure - Cassandra and Scylla DataBases

As the DB expert for NoSQL databases, you will be responsible for staying updated with the latest developments in the NoSQL space and reviewing data models created by application teams. Your primary focus will be on managing Cassandra and Scylla clusters, ensuring capacity management, cost optimization, high availability, and performance. You will work with large database clusters handling 1M+ IOPS in aggregate, creating automations to reduce toil, monitoring, and alerting. Your responsibilities will include setting up backup and restore mechanisms, troubleshooting and resolving various cluster-related issues, and being the on-call support engineer on a rotational basis. You should hold a Bachelor's/Master's degree in engineering from reputed institutions and have at least 5 years of experience in SQL and NoSQL databases. To be successful in this role, you must have experience managing large-scale Cassandra and Scylla clusters with a deep understanding of architecture, storage, replication, schema design, system tables, logs, DB processes, tools, and CQL. You should also be proficient in installation, configuration, upgrades, OS patching, certificate management, scaling for Cassandra and Scylla clusters, and setting up backup and restore mechanisms with short RTO and RPO objectives. Furthermore, experience in infrastructure automation and scripting using Terraform, Python, or Bash is required. Familiarity with monitoring tools like Grafana, Prometheus, New Relic, Datadog, and managed Cassandra solutions such as InstaClustr and Datastax Astra is beneficial. Experience with Cloud-native distributed databases like TiDB and CockroachDB, as well as MySQL and/or Postgres on Linux, is a plus. AWS experience, preferably with AWS certification, and excellent communication skills are essential for this role.,
