Job Description Job Overview: The Senior Electrical Engineer uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the electrical discipline within McDermott. They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the electrical discipline. The Senior Electrical Engineer solves complex problems and uses their discipline-specific knowledge to improve their products or services. The Senior Electrical Engineer impacts a range of customers, operational, project, or service activities with the electrical team and other related teams and ensures that they are working within the appropriate guidelines and policies. Responsibilities Key Tasks and Responsibilities: Apply thorough working knowledge to prepare and oversee the development of key project deliverables, including (but not limited to) the following: Specifications and Datasheets Electrical Load List One-line diagrams Motor control schematics Electrical building and equipment layouts Bills of Material Cable sizing calculations Conceptual studies and calculations Relay Coordination Cost and planning studies Prepare material requisitions, perform offer evaluation and prepare Technical Bid Evaluation Lead Project Development and Coordination, including (but not limited to) the following: Maintain and promote a focus on McDermotts end-product throughout engineering, fabrication, or construction Function as electrical engineering project lead or electrical task lead Become familiar with the project scope of work, basis of design, specifications, and schedule Report to and coordinate with the electrical engineering lead, project engineering manager, and electrical department manager Supervise and coordinate with electrical engineers and designers Maintain close coordination with other discipline engineers and with the Clients engineer Carefully evaluate, communicate, and manage change with full awareness of project impact Assume responsibility for cost, schedule, and quantity and budget control Lead the development and support of vendor packages, including (but not limited to) the following: Create, issue, and manage requisition packages for Substations, Transformers, and Electrical materials Create, issue, and manage subcontract packages for Heat Tracing, Cathodic Protection, and Electrical Installation Perform and coordinate the review of supplier documents for electrical and non-electrical packages Coordinate and supervise the Inspection and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of electrical equipment, motors, and associated skids Lead Site Support, including (but not limited to) the following: Lead off-site and/or on-site technical support to Construction personnel Manage all site issues and coordinate with office personnel to resolve issues as needed Provide detailed technical support and supervision for Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of electrical equipment Provide detailed technical assistance for pre-commissioning, energization, commissioning, and start-up, as required by the project Qualifications Essential Qualifications and Education: Must hold Bachelors or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering Not less than 12 years of detailed electrical engineering experience Strong working knowledge of many design techniques, analysis methods, and detailed knowledge of the content and application of standards, codes, and guidelines, including IEC, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and ANSI and the latest scientific and engineering methods Technical knowledge of the detailed design engineering process in Oil & gas, EPC Projects Project coordination and execution skills Intermediate experience with Smart Plant Electrical (SPEL), AVEVA Electrical, Dialux/Chalmlite/Agi32, ETAP, and MS Office Suite including Excel and Word About Us Our ingenuity fuels daily life. Key Tasks and Responsibilities: - Aid with technical requirements gathering and client meetings and implementing new SmartPlant Electrical environments to suit the scope of the project. - Project setup as per the requirements of the company and client. - SmartPlant Electrical Administration including creating Plant Breakdown Structure, access rights, naming conventions, symbology, filters, reports, system maintenance, etc. - Create an Oracle database instance if not exists already. - Maintain the SmartPlant Electrical database for projects including backups, reports, imports, data integrity, etc. including the customization of reports as per project requirements. - Troubleshoot and solve SmartPlant Electrical problems to ensure project integrity and user support. - Develop detailed project work instructions for users. - Project deliverable customization: - Create custom Excel reports. - Publish Project reports for revision control. - Create custom symbols. - Import data from Excel. - Project support: - Help users resolve issues and handhold in case of new users to create the following: - Create Electrical entities. - Associate entities. - Create entity tabular view. - Use Profile and Lookups. - Generate Excel reports. - Generate SLD. - Generate cable schedule. - New cable types. - Cable Sizing. - Project Administrative support: - Coordinate with Hexagon support as required to fix issues. - Schedule and store SPEL Backups. - Perform SPEL Project upgrades as per the requirement. - Setup and support of SPEL Interfaces, including Import Manager using ODBC connection. - Project Replication expertise: - Develop replication plan & Replication level as per the project requirements. - Implementation of Automation tools: - Use Import Manager to manage replication. - Produce setup documentation detailing how SmartPlant Electrical satisfies the project scope and requirements. - Create auditing requirements and checking for quality assurance of the design effort. - Maintain and verify daily backup routines. - Help develop automation enhancements. Essential Qualifications and Education: - Degree in engineering / Diploma in Engineering. - Strong understanding of SP Electrical and other intelligent 2D Electrical applications, engineering design, drafting applications. - Multiple project execution exposure essential. - 6-10 years in SP Electrical Administration covering SPEL Administration and user support. - Managed & administered medium to large-size projects (with 10 to 20+ users) executed using the SP Electrical Application. - Good working experience of SP Electrical, intelligent 2D applications, Engineering design, and drafting. - Multiple project execution exposure essential. - Good working knowledge of 2D CAD Applications. - Exposure & knowledge of Integration of data from SP Electrical to other SP Foundation and other SmartPlant Applications and workflow. - Good exposure to detailed engineering, engineering best practices. - Should be able to understand requirements from discipline and be able to support the team. - Knowledge SQL queries will be considered as an asset. - Knowledge of AVEVA Electrical, ETAP, Comos, and other Electrical tools will be considered as an asset. - Has the ability to effectively conduct training sessions for new users. - Knowledge in excel VBA will be an added advantage.
