As a Camera SubModule Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing camera software modules, including ISP pipeline components, driver interfaces (HAL/KMD), tuning tools, and memory/buffer management for embedded systems or SoC platform. Your key responsibilities will include having a basic understanding of ISP pipeline modules, developing and maintaining HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) and KMD (Kernel Mode Driver) interfaces interacting between host and camera submodules, understanding tuning parameters, and collaborating with system teams to evolve tuning parameters and optimization strategies for image quality and performance. You will also be responsible for managing memory and buffer lifecycles, implementing efficient buffer queue mechanisms under Linux kernel constraints, understanding image quality (IQ) tuning tools, scripts (Python/C++/MATLAB), and automation frameworks, having thorough knowledge of IFE (Image Front End) and IQ (Image Quality), being proficient in C++ design patterns and Linux Kernel Programming, benchmarking and validating image output quality using objective metrics (e.g. MTF, noise, low-light performance) via IQ test charts and automation script, participating in debugging, profiling, and performance optimizations to ensure low power, latency, and resource usage, as well as authoring and maintaining technical documentation including API specs, tuning guides, interface descriptions, and test plan. You should hold a Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or Imaging Science, have experience in C/C++ software development with exposure to embedded systems or Linux driver development, possess strong knowledge of ISP fundamentals, digital image processing, and camera tuning concepts (AWB, AE, 3A), be familiar with memory/buffer management in Linux or embedded environments, and have experience in writing automation/test scripts using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools. Preferred skills for this role include holding a Master's or PhD in a relevant technical field, having 4+ years of experience in consumer camera ISP software development or tuning, possessing knowledge of color science, imaging sensor characteristics (CMOS/Bayer), IQ metrics like MTF, FOV, distortion, being familiar with hardware drivers, HAL design, debugging tools, profiling, and Linux kernel fundamentals, having experience in automated IQ testing frameworks, camera sensor integration, and validation pipelines, being exposed to ML-based image processing or algorithm development, and having prior exposure to HAL interfaces, buffer management, and tuning interfaces.
