Role Summary The Graduate Engineer would be responsible for creation and editing of fire and life safety drawings for Civil Defence Approval and Construction drawings in compliance with applicable codes and standard and detailing practices based on basic sketches provided by engineers. Key responsibilities include general compliance plan reviews with occupant load calculations and egress calculation in accordance with the applicable codes like NFPA, QCD Standard, and UAE Fire & Life Safety Code of Practice. Responsibilities Creation and editing of drawings & models in compliance with WSP Middle East BIM Standards and detailing practices. Produce accurate BIM/Revit and AutoCAD 2D drawings and 3D models to agreed deadlines Completion of tasks received from Engineers and Senior Consultants. Should also be familiar with Autodesk software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, Photoshop and Navisworks. Ensure drawings are issued correctly, and filed in an appropriate manner and to Middle East standards Develop expertise and stay abreast of developments in relevant technical field Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies Ensure QMS compliance and complete accurate timesheets by set deadline Focus on the delivery of high quality technical design drawings and specifications to the required regulations Contribute to technical solutions on projects Initiate and participate in design peer reviews Ensure internal quality procedures are followed Key Competencies / Skills Mandatory skills We anticipate you will have an interest in the following areas: Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD Architecture Knowledge You should have a good first degree in Architecture. You will also be computer literate with a reasonable proficiency in AutoCAD, REVIT, MS Word and MS Excel. As well as having a thirst for knowledge, cultural awareness, an open mind and good English communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work as part of a team Desired skills Be able to quickly pick up new ideas and skills, and be able to think laterally to generate new solutions to problems. Role & responsibilities 1. Drafting and Design Development The AutoCAD Drafting Engineer shall prepare accurate and comprehensive 2D and 3D technical drawings that represent the design concepts provided by engineering teams, including but not limited to site layouts, grading plans, structural details, and utility networks . These drawings shall be produced in accordance with the specifications set forth by the senior engineering team and aligned with relevant civil engineering codes and regulatory standards . 2. Technical Documentation and Coordination The AutoCAD Drafting Engineer is responsible for compiling and organizing technical documentation related to the design process, ensuring that all drawings and associated documents are complete, accurate, and in compliance with industry best practices. This includes maintaining an organized record of project revisions and managing any updates resulting from coordination with engineers, architects, and other project stakeholders. 3. Integration of Survey and Site Data The Engineer shall integrate survey data , including topographical measurements, elevations, and contour lines, into the drafting process to ensure that the site plans reflect actual field conditions. The AutoCAD Drafting Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all survey data incorporated into the drawings is accurately interpreted and adequately represented in the final documentation. 4. Software Utilization and File Management The AutoCAD Drafting Engineer shall utilize AutoCAD , Civil 3D , or other industry-standard software to develop accurate, efficient, and high-quality drawings. In accordance with established project management protocols , the Engineer shall be responsible for the management and storage of all CAD files, ensuring that appropriate version control , documentation procedures , and data security measures are followed. 5. Compliance and Documentation Support The AutoCAD Drafting Engineer shall support the preparation of project documentation , including bills of quantities (BOQ) and technical specifications , ensuring that all supporting documentation is clear, concise, and in full compliance with applicable regulations. The Engineer shall maintain an up-to-date understanding of the relevant local building codes , engineering standards , and regulatory frameworks , ensuring that all drawings and documents are prepared in strict accordance with the governing legal and technical requirements. Preferred candidate profile The AutoCAD Drafting Engineer , within the context of civil engineering, is entrusted with the responsibility of producing, revising, and maintaining detailed and precise technical drawings and documents. These deliverables serve as the official representation of the projects design intent and are critical to the successful planning, approval, and execution of construction activities. All work undertaken must be in strict compliance with applicable industry standards, codes, and regulations. Required Skills and Qualifications related to job you have applying for Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D (or other industry-standard CAD software). A thorough understanding of civil engineering principles , drafting techniques , and design standards . Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks while ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of all deliverables. A comprehensive knowledge of local building codes , design standards , and regulatory compliance . Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with engineers, architects, and other project stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes. High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the integrity and quality of all drafting and technical documentation.
