We are currently inviting applications from highly qualified and experienced professionals for the post of Associate Professor – Ophthalmology, who can significantly contribute to our academic and clinical teaching programs.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria:

· Educational Qualification:
M.S. (Ophthalmology) or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) / National Medical Commission (NMC).

· Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of experience after postgraduation in either:

o Teaching Ophthalmology in a recognized medical or optometry college, OR

o Clinical practice as a Consultant Ophthalmologist in a reputed hospital or institution.

· Registration:
Valid registration with the Medical Council of India (MCI)/State Medical Council.

Key Responsibilities:Academic Responsibilities:

· Deliver theory lectures, clinical demonstrations, and practical training sessions in ophthalmology to undergraduate B.Optom students.

· Guide students in refraction, clinical examination skills, and ocular diagnostics.

· Supervise student research, clinical postings, internships, and dissertations.

· Prepare academic content, internal assessments, question papers, and model exams.

· Assist in syllabus design, academic planning, and interdepartmental coordination.

· Organize academic seminars, workshops, webinars, and CMEs.

Clinical Responsibilities:

· Provide expert clinical consultation in the institutional eye OPD (if applicable).

· Demonstrate ophthalmic clinical procedures and diagnostic skills to students.

· Train students on the use of ophthalmic equipment like slit lamps, ophthalmoscopes, retinoscopes, etc.

· Participate in community outreach programs such as vision screening, eye donation drives, and school health camps.

Administrative & Leadership Responsibilities:

· Lead the Ophthalmology department with a focus on academic discipline and innovation.

· Ensure compliance with NMC, UGC, and university regulations in all departmental functions.

· Participate in faculty meetings, quality audits, NAAC/NMC inspections, and internal reviews.

· Mentor junior faculty members and foster a culture of academic excellence.

· Collaborate with other departments for interdisciplinary education and events.

Key Skills & Attributes:

· Strong clinical and academic knowledge in ophthalmology.

· Proven experience in teaching optometry or medical students.

· Excellent communication, mentoring, and presentation skills.

· Familiarity with digital teaching tools (LMS platforms, smart classrooms, etc.).

· Commitment to student development and holistic eye care education.

Desirable:

· Fellowship in any ophthalmic subspecialty (e.g., Retina, Cornea, Glaucoma, Pediatric Ophthalmology).

· Experience in academic research and publication in peer-reviewed journals.

· Participation in national-level eye health programs or blindness control initiatives.
