About the Institution:

Maharashtra Institute of Optometry, under the MIT Group of Institutions, is a center of excellence in vision sciences and optometry education. Our focus is to blend academic learning with clinical exposure, ensuring students are well-equipped to meet the growing demands of modern eye care. To strengthen our institutional clinical services and student health support, we are seeking a qualified Medical Officer (Ophthalmology) with a D.O.M.S. or M.S. degree.

Eligibility Criteria:

· Minimum Qualification:
D.O.M.S. (Diploma in Ophthalmic Medicine and Surgery) orM.S. (Ophthalmology) from a recognized medical university/institute.

· Registration:
Must be registered with the Medical Council of India (MCI) or National Medical Commission (NMC).

· Experience:
1–3 years of clinical experience in an eye hospital, medical college, or healthcare institute preferred.(Fresh postgraduates with strong practical skills may also apply.)

Roles & Responsibilities:1. Clinical Duties:

· Provide primary and secondary eye care services through the campus health clinic or affiliated OPDs.

· Diagnose and manage common ocular conditions (e.g., conjunctivitis, cataract, refractive errors, glaucoma).

· Perform minor ophthalmic procedures and assist in surgical case referrals when required.

· Maintain health records and case documentation.

2. Academic Support (Optional/If Required):

· Demonstrate ophthalmic procedures and basic examination techniques to undergraduate optometry students.

· Provide clinical insights during practical classes and discussions.

· Mentor students during their clinical postings or community outreach camps.

3. Community Eye Health Activities:

· Support institutional vision screening programs, eye camps, and school outreach services.

· Participate in public health awareness drives related to vision care and eye hygiene.

4. Administrative & Campus Health Role:

· Attend to student health issues related to ophthalmic or general conditions (when needed).

· Issue medical fitness certificates, manage emergency eye care, and refer cases appropriately.

· Coordinate with the campus administration for health and hygiene standards, especially in hostels and common areas.

Key Skills & Competencies:

· Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.

· Clear understanding of ophthalmic instruments and outpatient management.

· Good interpersonal communication with students and staff.

· Willingness to engage in teaching and training activities (desirable).

· Commitment to institutional goals and community service.

Desirable Additions:

· Certification in basic life support (BLS).

· Prior experience in optometry teaching environments or vision centers.

· Fellowship or additional training in subspecialties (for MS candidates).
