Associate Professor Forensic Medicine

Position Summary:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Associate Professor of Forensic Medicine to join our academic team. The role includes teaching, mentoring, medico-legal responsibilities, research, and academic leadership within the department. The ideal candidate will contribute to the advancement of forensic medical education and research while supporting institutional medico-legal services.

Key Responsibilities:Academic and Teaching Duties:

• Teach Forensic Medicine and Toxicology to undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate students (if applicable).
• Supervise and conduct practical sessions, demonstrations, and medico-legal case discussions.
• Guide students in academic projects, dissertations, and research work.
• Develop course materials and implement Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) methodologies.

Medico-Legal Work:

• Conduct and supervise medico-legal autopsies and prepare official post-mortem and injury reports.
• Provide expert opinions in medico-legal cases and appear in court as an expert witness, when required.
• Ensure proper documentation and confidentiality in handling medico-legal records.

Research:

• Undertake individual and collaborative research projects.
• Publish in peer-reviewed national and international journals.
• Guide postgraduate students and junior faculty in research activities.
• Apply for institutional or external research funding where applicable.

Administrative Duties:

• Assist the Head of Department in managing academic schedules, departmental planning, and compliance with NMC norms.
• Contribute to curriculum development, student assessment, and academic audits.
• Participate in institutional committees, workshops, CME programs, and community outreach initiatives.
• Support departmental efforts for accreditation, inspections, and quality assurance processes.

Qualifications:Essential:

• MBBS with MD in Forensic Medicine from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 4 years of teaching experience as an Assistant Professor in Forensic Medicine (as per NMC norms or equivalent).
• Minimum number of scientific publications in indexed journals, as required by regulatory authorities.
