As a Cloud Java & Data Engineer in our DAIS Data Foundational Services team, you will play a critical role in shaping PayPals data-driven initiatives. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust data pipelines to seamlessly integrate data from diverse internal and external sources into our cloud-based data warehouses. You will engage with global teams across different business verticals to understand their data needs and ensure effective data integration. The ideal candidate will serve as a domain expert for key business areas, providing technical guidance and problem-solving expertise. The individual should be self-motivated, possess creative problem-solving skills and should have the ability to handle multiple deliverables at the same time Meet our team: As a member of the Data Foundation Service Team, youll be at the heart of PayPals data-driven initiatives. Were responsible for managing acquisition, integration, transformation, & management of PYPL data by providing Data Platforms that provide high-quality, certified data for powering business decisions. Our team manages enterprise data assets, implementing strong data governance to safeguard sensitive information and facilitate secure data access. The data warehouse we maintain is a vital resource for AI/ML, business reporting, and analytics across the entire organization. Your way to impact: Your work will directly contribute to PayPals success by building Data-as-a-Service system that enables timely and accurate decision-making. Youll design and implement innovative data streaming architectures using microservices to ensure efficient data ingestion. By creating batch and streaming workflows, youll help us process data in near real time, providing valuable insights to our business. Your development of monitoring dashboards will play a crucial role in maintaining data quality and integrity, ensuring the reliability of our enterprise data assets. Your day to day: Actively engaging with cross-functional teams across the organization to understand their data needs and develop scalable data solutions that align with business objectives. Effectively planning and executing data projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project timelines. Approaching complex problems with a creative and analytical mindset, considering all potential solutions and exploring innovative approaches. Proactively anticipating problems and appropriately communicating to the team and management in a timely manner. Contributing to all stages of the product lifecycle, from initial design to ongoing maintenance and optimization. Working in a fast-paced environment and delivering high-quality results even with limited requirements What do you need to bring: 3+ years of experience in the IT industry, with a strong focus on data technology Proficiency in programming language like Java and associated frameworks such as Spring Boot, Rest API and microservices. Experience with cloud services on GCP such as BigQuery, CloudSQL,, DataProc, Exposure to eventing systems such as Pub Sub, Kafka and Kinesis, including reading from and writing to these systems Proven experience working with any MPP systems, with strong SQL programming skills. Solid grasp of data warehousing architecture and best practices for designing and implementing efficient data models Familiarity with data movement techniques and best practices to handle large volumes of data with streaming integrations. Expertise in database programming and performance tuning techniques is desired. Working experience in an Agile methodology is highly preferred. Strong analytical skills including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders. Willingness to take ownership of tasks, contribute beyond basic responsibilities, and proactively seek opportunities for improvement
