Pre-Construction PlanningDevelop comprehensive construction schedules and sequencing plans Coordinate with design teams to ensure constructability and value engineering Prepare detailed work breakdown structures (WBS) and critical path method (CPM) schedules Conduct constructability reviews and identify potential issues early Establish project milestones and delivery timelines Resource Planning & CoordinationPlan and allocate labor, equipment, and material resources Coordinate subcontractor schedules and interdependencies Manage procurement schedules to ensure timely material delivery Plan temporary facilities, site logistics, and staging areas Develop contingency plans for weather, delays, and other risks Schedule Management & ControlCreate and maintain master construction schedules using software like Primavera P6, MS Project Monitor progress against planned schedules and identify variances Implement schedule recovery plans when delays occur Coordinate look-ahead schedules (3-week, 6-week rolling schedules) Manage change orders and their impact on project timelines Quality & Safety PlanningDevelop quality control and quality assurance plans Create safety management plans and coordinate with safety teams Plan inspection schedules and coordinate with third-party inspectors Ensure compliance with building codes and project specifications Plan testing schedules for materials and systems Cost & Budget PlanningDevelop construction budgets and cost forecasts Monitor actual costs against planned budgets Plan cash flow projections and payment schedules Coordinate with estimating teams for change order pricing Track productivity metrics and unit costs Communication & ReportingFacilitate weekly construction meetings and planning sessions Prepare progress reports, dashboards, and KPI tracking Communicate schedule impacts to stakeholders and clients Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and field teams Interface with architects, engineers, and consultants Technology & DocumentationUtilize construction management software (Procore, PlanGrid, Autodesk Build) Maintain as-built documentation and record drawings Implement Building Information Modeling (BIM) for 4D scheduling Manage document control and submittal schedules Track RFIs, change orders, and approval processes Key Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field Proficiency in scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project) Strong understanding of construction methods and sequencing Experience with lean construction principles and pull planning Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills Typical DeliverablesMaster project schedules and phasing plans Resource allocation plans and manpower curves Weekly/monthly progress reports Schedule impact analyses Procurement and submittal schedules Risk registers and mitigation plans If this job description resonates with you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet all of the requirements below.
