Assistant Manager - Polishing & Lapping

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly knowledgeable and experienced engineer in polishing and lapping machines to provide technical leadership, support process optimization, and drive innovation in precision surface finishing applications. The candidate will serve as the go-to authority for polishing and lapping technologies, including equipment selection, process parameters, tooling, and quality control.

Requirements:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
• 8 to 10 years of hands-on experience with polishing and lapping machines in a high-precision manufacturing environment
• Experience with both single-side and double-side lapping/polishing systems is highly desirable
• Deep understanding of surface finishing principles, abrasive selection, process control, and metrology

Key Responsibilities:

•Provide expert guidance on the selection, operation, and maintenance of polishing and lapping machines

•Define and optimize processes to achieve desired surface finish, flatness, and dimensional tolerances across various materials (e.g., metals, ceramics, glass etc)

•Drive development and qualification of new polishing/lapping machines

•Troubleshoot complex process or equipment issues and recommend corrective actions

•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve productivity, yield, and consistency

•Evaluate and qualify new equipment, abrasives, pads, slurries, and consumables

•Interface with equipment vendors and suppliers to stay current with industry trends and innovations

•Create and maintain documentation including SOPs, process specifications, and technical reports
