Assistant Engineer - Maintenance

Role & responsibilities

The responsibility for the role is wide range of activities, from planning, design, and budgeting to supervising construction teams and ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards.

1. Structural & Civil Maintenance

• Inspection and repair of civil structures: RCC columns, beams, flooring, roofing.
• Knowledge of MS structures: fabrication, erection, and corrosion prevention.
• Ability to assess cracks, settlement, water leakage, and propose timely solutions.
• Familiarity with industrial flooring, expansion joints, and concrete repairs.

2. Architectural Finishes

• Knowledge of plastering, painting (interior & exterior), wall putty, waterproofing.
• Hands-on experience with glass door fittings, partitions, and aluminum frames.
• Ability to assess and maintain windows, doors, louvres, and ventilation units.
• Should understand industrial wall coatings (epoxy, anti-fungal, heat-reflective, etc.).

3. Mechanical & Utility Coordination

• Basic understanding of turbo ventilator installation and maintenance.
• Familiarity with roof sheet installation, purlins, gutters, and flashing work.
• Coordination with fabrication teams for welding, cutting, and MS repair work.

4. Basic Electrical Awareness

• Understanding of electrical provisions for light fixtures, fan mounts, switch boxes, etc.
• Coordination with electricians during civil and finishing activities.
• Awareness of safety clearances, conduit placement, and grounding considerations.

5. General Maintenance & Site Supervision

• Ability to inspect, plan, and prioritize maintenance tasks in a live factory setup.
• Daily supervision of contractors and workers for small to medium repair jobs.
• Capable of reading construction and MEP drawings.
• Skilled in estimating material quantity, labor, and tracking progress.

6. Tools & Software Knowledge

• AutoCAD (basic drawing reading or editing)
• MS Excel / Google Sheets for tracking maintenance records
• Familiarity with measurement tools, plumb levels, line lasers, and moisture meters

7. Safety & Compliance

• Working knowledge of factory safety standards related to civil and structural works.
• Ability to prepare work permits, follow safe work practices, and coordinate with safety officers.
• Should understand factory layouts, fire exits, and structural fire safety elements.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Technical Skills

  :
• Proficiency in AutoCAD for reviewing and preparing design drawings.
• 2 Years of Experience in relevant field.
• Strong knowledge of MS Office tools, including Excel and Word.

• Language Skills

  :
• Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking). Hindi would be added advantage.

• Soft Skills

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder management.
• Ability to manage pressure and multi tasks.
