Assistant Editor

As an Assistant Editor at our company, you will play a crucial role in managing tasks related to the Wiley Peer Review Desk. Your responsibilities will include manuscript triage, reviewer selection, evaluation of reviewer reports, integrity screening, scope assessment, referral and transfer handling, and more. Key Responsibilities: - Undertake screening and peer review activities for manuscripts in your relevant/broad subject area - Raise integrity concerns and escalate them through appropriate channels - Evaluate new submissions for journal suitability and make decisions in line with journal policy - Select and invite reviewers for suitable manuscripts - Assess reviewer reports and make decisions on manuscript acceptance, rejection, revision, or referral - Assess revised manuscripts for changes and determine if further review is needed - Identify target journals for manuscript transfer when needed - Participate in proof-of-concept projects and report findings promptly Qualifications Required: - PhD or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant research field - 3-5 years of experience as a primary researcher in the relevant field - 1-2 years of experience in scholarly publishing, with at least 1 year as an editor/editorial associate - Basic knowledge of the publishing and peer review processes - Attention to detail and good communication skills - Ability to stay focused and work collaboratively - Fluent in English with excellent writing and oral skills Desirable Qualifications: - Interest in scholarly publishing - Experience as a reviewer/editor and knowledge of editorial policies - Experience using supported EEO systems - Understanding of scholarly publishing business, including Open Access - Proficiency in non-English languages for colleagues working on such journals (desirable),
