Job Description

As a highly skilled CMM Application Engineer, you will be responsible for developing custom applications for Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and metrology solutions. Your expertise in CMM programming and automation, along with hands-on experience in tools like PC-DMIS and PolyWorks, will be crucial in optimizing measurement processes and supporting clients to achieve precision and efficiency in their quality control operations. Key Responsibilities: - Build offline/online PC-DMIS programs from CAD (STEP/IGES), applying datum strategies, best-fit/iterative alignments, probe build/qualification, safe paths, and cycle-time optimization. - Execute FAI/PPAP/ISIR and produce clear reports, including compiling basic SPC (Cp/Cpk, MSA/Gage R&R). - Perform routine CMM calibration/verification, artifact checks (spheres, step/ring/plug gauges), manage environmental factors, and document CAPA. - Support the installation, repair, and commissioning of CMMs. - Deliver operator training (software & hardware), on-site troubleshooting, and technical support. - Partner with quality/manufacturing teams to resolve measurement issues and improve fixtures/datum schemes. - Maintain version control for programs, WI/SOPs, and calibration records to ensure audit readiness and drive continuous improvement. Qualifications: - Minimum 3-7 years of experience in CMM/PC-DMIS programming with shop-floor prove-outs. - Proficiency in PC-DMIS programming (offline & online) from CAD (STEP/IGES), datum strategies, best-fit/iterative alignments. - Experience in probe builds & qualification, safe path planning, and cycle-time optimization. - Strong GD&T proficiency (ASME Y14.5/ISO), including feature controls, datum schemes, and tolerance stacks. - Knowledge of reporting & SPC: FAI/PPAP/ISIR, Cp/Cpk, MSA/Gage R&R basics. - Exposure to CMM calibration/verification (ISO 10360 awareness), artifact handling (spheres, step/ring/plug gauges). - Ability in troubleshooting program logic, probe/head errors, communication & hardware issues. - Documentation discipline: maintaining version control of programs, WI/SOPs, calibration records. - Customer interaction skills: conducting shop-floor prove-outs, operator training, clear verbal/written communication. To apply for this role, please submit your CV and a brief cover letter outlining your experience to info@xellr.com. All relocation residency assistance will be provided.
