The Application engineer is responsible for aiding engineers in assuring the consistency of Bearing design, drafting practice and formats on part prints issued to manufacturing locations. This person is responsible for developing designs, drawings & coordinating with cross functional teams for various Global valve powertrain products and Piston products working from CAD files and must be able to use component stack-up calculations, tolerance analysis and layouts to determine appropriate designs. Work output is generally detailed part design, part drawings and Assembly drawings for prototype and production parts. The Designer is responsible for providing designs and drawings that meet customer requirements and can be manufactured.

The Role: We are seeking a highly motivated experienced Systems Engineer with a specialization in the Vehicle Motion Domain Area of Responsibility Working as a member of the Systems Squad, the successful individual will have tasks assigned / prioritised by the System Product Owner For initial decomposing, deriving and allocating system and sub-system requirements, ensuring full bi-lateral traceability across the V cycle. Will be responsible to for Test Case Authoring and conducting System Level Verification on both rigs and vehicle. Will support the Product Owner / Group leader in both Route Cause Analysis and permanent corrective actions. Will support the creation of system safety case with applicable Functional Safety Work Products and Standards Knowledge / Experience Automotive or Electrical Engineering Degree with Industry Experience (Automotive preferred) Experience in Automotive Chassis / Motion Systems and associated features, although strong candidates with relevant system experience from other industries such as aerospace will also be considered. Some experience of delivering complex mechatronic systems from concept to production. Demonstratable experience of delivering complex projects to quality, cost and time. You will have a strong background in systems engineering and requirement management, along with change management tools and processes, version control, control strategy documentation. You will have demonstrable experience in Jira toolsets, including but not limited to Confluence and Lucid. Experience in delivery of safety critical active control systems and associated software to ISO26262 standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong influencing and engagement skills. Proficiency in issue resolution management, including both methodology and application e.g. 8D, Fishbone. Full UK driving license Desirable Knowledge of vehicle dynamics particularly in the active systems domain. Experience delivering complex integrated control systems for a large scale OEM. Experience in MBSE methods and toolsets (MSOSA or similar) Hands on vehicle testing in the active systems domain including subjective and objective test methods. Understanding of automotive networking, diagnostics and fault handling techniques, and related system development tools (CANalyzer, ASL, CANape, etc.) Previous experience in JLR and their technology/product delivery processes would be an advantage. Recognized industry driving qualifications e.g. JLRs Class 3 / 4PG etc

Role & responsibilities Overall 7 years with at least 5+ years of experience working with transformer-based models and NLP tasks, with a focus on text generation, summarization, question answering, classification, and similar tasks. Awareness of biases, hallucinations, and knowledge cutoffs that can affect LLM performance and output quality. Expertise in crafting clear, concise, and contextually relevant prompts to guide LLMs towards generating desired outputs. Experience in instruction-based prompting Use of zero-shot, few-shot, and many-shot learning techniques for maximizing model performance without retraining. Experience in iterating on prompts to refine outputs, test model performance, and ensure consistent results. Crafting prompt templates for repetitive tasks, ensuring prompts are adaptable to different contexts and inputs. Expertise in chain-of-thought (CoT) prompting to guide LLMs through complex reasoning tasks by encouraging step-by-step breakdowns. Proficiency in Python and experience with NLP libraries (e.g., Hugging Face, SpaCy, NLTK). Experience with transformer-based models (e.g., GPT, BERT, T5) for text generation tasks. Experience in training, fine-tuning, and deploying machine learning models in an NLP context. Understanding of model evaluation metrics (e.g., BLEU, ROUGE)
