Key Responsibilities Perform electrical design and calculations (core, winding, losses, impedance, insulation coordination, etc.) for power and distribution transformers. Select appropriate materials and components for transformer construction (core steel, conductor type, insulation system, tap changers). Use design software (e.g., ELCID, MagNet, ANSYS Maxwell, AutoCAD Electrical, etc.) for simulations and design modeling. Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including GA drawings, schematic diagrams, and Bill of Materials (BoM). Support internal departments (production, testing, procurement) with design-related queries and engineering change notices. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Participate in design reviews, customer meetings, and technical discussions. Assist in product testing, validation, and troubleshooting of transformer performance issues. Continually improve design processes and contribute to cost reduction and product innovation efforts. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) or Master’s degree (M.E./M.Tech) in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering. 2–8 years of experience in transformer electrical design (entry-level to senior level depending on position). Strong understanding of transformer theory and components (core, winding, insulation, magnetic circuits, etc.). Proficiency in CAD tools (AutoCAD, EPLAN, etc.) and electromagnetic design software (optional but preferred). Familiarity with international standards (IEC, ANSI, IS, IEEE). Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Good communication and teamwork skills. Preferred Skills Experience in designing power transformers (>33kV) or special application transformers. Knowledge of thermal modeling and short-circuit withstand capability calculations. Hands-on knowledge of testing procedures (routine, type, and special tests). Understanding of SAP/ERP systems in an engineering environment. The successful candidate will lead the design and engineering of subsea and/or surface wellhead, tree systems, and pressure control equipment. This role requires in-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering, design validation, and industry codes relevant to oilfield equipment.
